Perhaps the band with the only big claim to fame being that George Fisher(now of Cannibal Corpse) did vocals for them for two records. Why Monstrosity couldn't make anything between the early 1992 "Imperial Doom" record on Nuclear Blast and this effort on an even smaller label four years later will be an underground mystery for Death Metal fans to ponder for the ages. With no product to speak of between these years, Monstrosity could not get a lot of coverage for this fresh effort. Also, by the time 1996 rolled around tastes in metal were changing and Black Metal bands from the Nordic lands began garnering most of the attention in the metal community.

Upon moving from the Ft. Lauderdale area to be in the Tampa Bay area, Monstrosity did lose the guitar stylings of Jon Rubin who would go on to stick with Malevolent Creation. Kelly Conlon, Jason Morgan and Lee Harrison then filled out the rest of the band. The opening track to this effort entitled "Fatal Millenium" is absolutely phenomenal. Imagine the most perfect combination of the best elements of Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Atheist and Death all rolled into one. The rest of the album doesn't let the listener down and showcases a band displaying a slightly more technical/progressive side to their excellent musicianship with on the dime cuts, start-stop-different-tempo/time-changes, inventive drumming and some bass guitar playing that might make even Steve DiGiorgio himself turn his head. Legendary producer Scott Burns ties the entire product together for an absolutely enjoyable Death Metal listening experience.

Maybe if this had been released a year or two earlier, the Monstrosity story would be more prominent in the broader Florida Death Metal (and indeed worldwide!) story. Nevertheless you have a slab of original Death Metal with the highest regard for superior musicianship and vision that Monstrosity's lesser, younger peers that are around today would kill for.

I picked this up curiously at a thift store...being a longtime metal fan i knew this was something legit and recognized corpsegrinder from cannibal corpse fame..best $1.99 i've ever spent. what a disc. crushingly inventive

This is a f@#king awesome CD! When I got it, I had already heard the latest, "Rise to Power," & I liked that one, but I had NO idea how much I'd love this one. The production is great, the guitars, bass, drums, & vox all sound so clear! And of course, George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher, now of the great Cannibal Corpse does the vox on this one. It all starts out with the crushing title song, "Fatal Millennium," then continues into the equally brutal "Devious Instinct" & then so forth. They even have a song in between, "Fragments os Resolution," which is a good song & kinda slows the pace down before it picks back up on the next one, "Manipulation Strain" & one of my favs. on the CD, "Slaves & Masters." It all ends with the fast & furious "Seize of Change." This is one of those CDs that I can listen to the whole way through & not skip to another song because EVERY song on here is just great. Brilliant, technical, & totally brutal, this is a step up from their 1st album, "Imperial Doom" (which is also a great & classic death metal CD), & I think this is where they found their style. BUY THIS IF YOU CAN!!! It definitly belongs in every death metal fans collection. IF U like this, I also reccommend Immolation "Dawn of Possession," Suffocation "Effigy of the Forgotten," Cannibal Corpse "Butchered at Birth," Entombed "Left Hand Path," Cryptopsy "None So Vile," Death "Leprosy," & Deicide "Legion." Brutal s#it man!!!!!!!! SO get on the ball & get it!!! Yeeeaaahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I WENT TO THE CONCERT AND GOT AN AUTOGRAPH CD. I ALSO MET GEORGE FISHER THE SINGER. MONSTROSITY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS.

90's metal is some of the best ever....Pantera (the Vulgar album and Far Beyond Driven), Gorguts, Human Remains,and of course Monstrosity (to name a few). This is probably Monstrosity's best....to say bands like Arch Enemy or even Immolation can outdo them is stupid. Arch Enemy is good...i mean damn they have the guitarist from Carcass but they aren't as extreme as Monstrosity.

Well, personally, I think this album just kicks serious ass. The "Corpsegrinder" really shows off his talent on this one. His best work every, compared to Cannibal Corpse, which is still f**king awesome. The guitars are totally brutal, same said for drums. A lot of people think this CD sounds a lot like something of Morbid Angel. If you actually listened to Morbid Angel and Monstrosity you could easily tell the two apart, although saying that, Morbid Angel is one of the greatest Death metal bands around, next to Death, Deicide, etc... If you're like any other metal head, you'd pick this one up. METAL RULES!

Without a doubt, these guys are masters of some of the best death metal ever played on the planet. Devious Instinct and Fatal Millennium being two of my favs. Others have tried to imitate the Monstrosity music, but have failed....they'll never measure up to the killer sound of Monstrosity. The only album better than this one is Monstrosity's new album "In Dark Purity".

This album feature Cannibal Corpse vocalist George"Corpsegrinder" Fisher...The music is a lot like that ofCannibal Corpse. The newer music, not the old. The stand-out track is "Dark Messiah". Download it and you will see the similarities and differences of this and Cannibal Corpse. Definately would recommend purchasing for any death metal fan.

I've listened to several of there CDs(Enslaving The Masses,Imperial Doom) and still don't care to ever hear them again. Why are people even bothering listening this when there so many other death metal bands that are superior to Monstrosity. If like your death metal bland and plain this CD is for you,and if you want death metal with feeling and sense of brutality check out(Immolation,Decapitated,Arch Enemy)
