We normally buy this guide every year. I admit we are antique dealers and it helps us in our business. But the information and great pictures makes this book so informative. Prices in different areas and countries vary widely, so don't take them as absolutes. It does tend to be more focused on higher end antiques and collectibles, but it does cover less expensive things also. It helps to buy the guide on two consecutive years. One year it will focus more on one area in a certain category, and the following year the focus will be on another area.
I knew what I was looking for and found it easily on Amazon. Dispite holiday rush and heavy snow I received my book in short order and was able to save what could have turned out to be a very lonesome Xmas. (It was the only thing my wife had asked for and she was very pleased to receive it!)
I guess I was looking for something else. I was hoping to find out how the items are determined to BE a 19th century desk or a 1930s art deco pin. This was more of examples and values, so, if that is what you are looking for, its a good book. If you are hoping for clues to understand things, this isn't for you.
