The publisher's latest collectible guide is an eye-catching look at fashions. Harris, a British fashion collector and writer, discusses clothing from an English perspective, but her examples are comparable to American styles. Price values for approximately 300 pieces of vintage clothing are listed in both pounds and dollars. Examples of early fashions (pre-1920s) as well as styles from each decade from the 1920s through the 1990s, shown in color photographs, cover day wear, evening wear, lingerie, accessories, men's wear, and unisex clothing. The book includes such fashion finds as lucite mules, Mary Quant stockings, Afghan coats, and bowling shirts. Also included are brief but useful sections on places to buy vintage in Great Britain and how to care for your vintage clothing as well as a fashion chronology. Though readers expecting a substantial text will be disappointed, the whimsical photos make this a visually pleasing book. Whether you're a designer or just one of those people like myself that enjoy a good vintage book on clothing and accessories. You'll love this book. If anything to refresh the mind of a time when we grew up and what we wore. They say if you wait long enough, our generations clothing come back in style. It is SO true!
