Taste, quality and price - great, but not "raw honey" by Wikipedia's definition,
By
This review is from: Miller's Honey, Wild, 3-Pound Jar (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
Miller's Honey tastes great but by Wikipedia's definition is not actually "raw honey". I got my information by calling Miller's Honey (and I think their products are great, by the way).
Miller's Honey is heated to 130 °F. Maybe that is close enough by some people's standards. But please read the following from Wikipedia: "Raw honey is honey as it exists in the beehive or as obtained by extraction, settling or straining without adding heat above 120 °F." There are some honey brands that do not heat their honey whatsoever, such as White Gold, but unheated honey is always more expensive, I suppose because of the health benefits. Also from Wikipedia: "Excessive heat-exposure also results in product deterioration, as it increases the level of hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and reduces enzyme (e.g. diastase) activity. The heat also affects appearance, taste, and fragrance. Heat processing can also darken the natural honey color (browning)." I think this is an important distinction because otherwise Amazon shoppers will think this is by far the cheapest RAW HONEY available -probably anywhere. Of course, you can't argue with the price of Miller's Honey even though it is heated to 130 °F. I also noticed that at least one reviewer claimed this product was organic. As I stated, I called the company. They say it is not organic. However, they do say it is certified Kosher and that it is USDA Grade A -not that anybody doubted that! Miller's Honey is an amazing company with fabulous products, and they have great customer service too. They even sell 5 gallon buckets of this honey, but you can't do better on this particular one than to buy it through Amazon. This product deserves 5 Amazon stars. The price is great. Just make sure you're comparing apples to apples when you look at prices of raw honey.

Full, rich, and only slightly wild taste. Next to the raw stuff straight from a hive, the best honey I think I've ever tasted.

Not as good as I'd hoped,

I'm a fan of raw honey but this product didn't measure up. There's an strong, almost medicinal tang to it that competes with what I try to use it with. It is absolutely horrible sweetening plain yogurt. You can't entirely control what the bees collect with wild honey, but perhaps that's a good reason to avoid this in the future. It just isn't consistent. If you're looking for a really rich and smooth flavor I suggest raw buckwheat honey, and it is what I will be buying again when I finish this up.
For those that reported leaking, mine arrived fine, but I agree that the lids are way too loose (and with nothing to secure them) so it's not hard to imagine that leakage has happened a few times. It'd help even if the amazon shippers just did a hand tighten before boxing them up. The lids are that loose.

Once you taste quality honey like Miller's you'll search other recipes and uses because something this delicious shouldn't be left to only sore throats and cups of tea.
However, it was my wife's nightly cup of tea that drove our purchase. She grew tired of store-brand honey that is sugary and watery with none of the richness natural, raw honey provides. Wildflower honey (flavor, color and smell) varies depending on the wildflowers from which the bees harvested the nectar. Taste -- The honey is dark amber in color with a rich, syrupy finish; excellent with black tea and McCann's Steel Cut Oatmeal. Quality -- According to honeylocator.com, Miller's Honey is Certified Kosher by Kosher Overseers of America and Certified Organic by QAI - Quality Assurance Intl. The honey is produced in the United States. Value -- Two 3-pound jars are listed on Amazon for $20.35 and eligible for free shipping with Amazon Prime. I checked on the Miller's Honey and the same order costs $17.18 but with ground shipping (the least expensive shipping option) is $27.86. Shipping -- The jars arrived in terrific shape, no drips, no leaks, no spills. Other -- My wife likes the jar's wide-mouth opening, which makes it easy to dip larger spoons. Store your honey at room temperature in a kitchen cabinet or pantry shelf. Rating -- Five stars.

THIS HONEY TASTES BETTER THAN THE CHEAP KIND FROM OTHER STORES. I JUST NEED TO FIND ANOTHER CONTAINER FOR IT BECAUSE IT TENDS TO WASTE DOWN THE SIDES OF THE BOTTLE, LIKE THEY ALL DO.

Nice dark honey and tastes great. I like the 3-pound Jar because it is perfect for home brewing a 1 gallon batch of Mead Honey Wine. I didn't have any problems with shipping. Went off without a hitch. Will be making it into mead soon and will post back as to how it tastes in about six months.
Very difficult to get honey in 3-pound size. Glad to find this.

Thick honey,

This Honey is very good. The taste is mild and not very strong. Has a nice aftertaste if you eat it with yougurt or just plain. Better than most other Honeys and good for the price of around 3 per pound

I drink a lot of hot tea. I go through a lot of honey. So, this seemed like a good product to take a gamble on. Well, I lost. But that's on me, not Amazon or Miller's.
I was surprised to open a jug of this honey and be taken aback by the rancid smell. And it tastes just like it smells. This is not the honey you may be used to. It is much more intense and really tastes nothing like traditional honey. If you aren't sure about what you are getting, it might be best to try a smaller-sized sample of this kind of honey. I wasn't aware honey could vary so much in taste from this "raw" stuff to the processed honey that is found in grocery stores. I was expecting a difference, just not such a drastic one. I only review this product to make sure others out there like me can know ahead of time that this honey is a lot different than what the average person expects honey to taste like. There are obviously a lot of other people who like this kind of honey. The families I gave my 2 jugs to loved it.

This Honey has a distinctive smell that I was not ready for. One reviewer says you should try this before buying six pounds of it. That would be a good idea. When I first opened the jug I thought there was something wrong with it and then remembered the one review about how it smelled. I put it on some rice cakes and it didn't do a thing for them. In my observation this stuff smelled more than it tasted. In any event I gave away the partial I opened and the sealed container in favor of another brand. I don't know enough about honey to complain about it, but I did not like this particular product.
