I did not purchase this scope through Amazon, but I think it deserves a review. I have several rifles from .22s to 300 WSM, and most of my rifles have a Burris on them. I got a Savage in 6.5x 284 about a year ago and wanted to try this scope. First the scope is definitly a "Tactical" style scope, not necessarily a hunting or target scope. I have worked with some tactical (police sniper) rifles with Nightforce scopes and this scope has the size and weight of those big scopes. If you are looking for a light "handy" scope, this is not it.

What I like about the scope - First, I liked the price. I paid $240 + shipping about a year ago, but it is definitely worth $350 here. I like that it has a 30mm tube, and not the 35mm tube due to ring selection. I like to mount my scopes very low, and I have read that the 35mm rings that come with the LRS are too high. I generally do not like big turrets on hunting rifles because I almost always find a way to knock them out of zero, but I like these turrets a lot. First, they are solid, the clicks are easy to feel and hear. Also, you can "zero" them, so that if I do move them, I can move them back to zero easily -more on that later. Best of all however, these turrets have locking rings that have, so far, not come loose unless I loosen them to adjust elevation/windage.

I also like that it came with a sun shade. I like sunshades

Most importantly this scope does what I want a scope to do - put me on target with a clear picture and a practical reticle. The milbar reticle works very well and using it for ranging is easy with this scope since they thoughtfully put a detent on the power ring at 10x, which is where you want the scope set for ranging.

I recently acquired a Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD and needed a decent scope for it. I considered the cost of a Leupold or other great brand tactical optics, but knew that it would end up being plenty more than what I payed for my rifle. I was made to understand that many precision shooters have sworn by this scope. I wouldn't call this scope high end, but it can give results where it matters. One thing to consider is whether or not you cleaned the sight mount taps of your rifle of the oil they have in them from the factory. Using some rubbing alcohol to clean those up is a must, since you don't want any loosening from recoil or an accidental drop of your firearm. As for field use causing wear and tear, Milletts are built to take a considerable amount of abuse. This entire package is worth it for the beginning long range shooter, though if you must have true premium quality, seek out Leupold, Swarovski, Leica, Nightforce, Schmidt and Bender, Redfield, Burris, Nikon, Weaver, and any others I may have failed to mention. Many compare this scope to a Bushnell Elite, and, as a point of fact; Bushnell owns Millett.

Some might turn away disapprovingly from this set of optics due to it being Chinese produced and boast about their supposed i.e. American or German produced scopes being so superior, but you might consider how Leupold's lenses are Japanese, and that Nikon and other good optical companies are Japanese, and how Nikon, for instance, makes quality stuff. I have a Nikon DSLR camera and I very much like it. Quality from countries you do not reside can be much better than expected. No need to look down your nose at a good Chinese produced scope like this Millette.

On to the reticile illumination - yes, it has that - it lights up the mildot reticle with a snazzy green. It's like...

This is one of the better scopes with the features especially when you factor in price. I recommend buying this if you want a great scope for the price. It is not the best of the best in the 1.5-3k range but for it is one of the best in the <$1000 category. Biggest downside is that it's a little on the heavy side by about .5 pounds but that's not a deal killer for me.

Had some trouble with the paint job making one of the turrets stick. It made it hard to adjust the zero of the turrets. I had to pull it and move it at the same time and just count the clicks if it moved. Also some material in the scope came loose and moved through the sight picture. I have not been able to completely zero it because of my choice of rings, but I ordered a lapping kit to fix that. All around decent product and it matches my rifle.

Any good professional photographer will tell you that if a lens has more glass and is on the heavy side then it should be the way to go. Good clean vision though I haven't used it out to full magnification yet. Reticle is very fine. Very sturdy and strongly built. For the price it is golden. I have looked through some high end and highly priced scopes but this one is far and away the best in value. 10/10.

This is a BIG scope. optics are clear. the knobs are a little stiff, but give nice click response. The scope I received showed some signs of previous use, but no damage. many of the Millet scopes come with mounts, but not this one.

I am not a pro. but have used a few scopes in my day. Retired NAVHM5 attached to USMC. This is a scope worth having. I am no sniper...this is the clearest scope outside of a german made I have seen. Heavy and a big Son of a gun. But I like wouldn't take on a deer hunt. But a bear, moose, Elk something you want to reach out on definitely. I read the reviews and they are right mil dot is illuminated Green controlled light, sun shade, camo is great...I don't care what others say the scope is bad to the bone. Bought for my .375HH and seriously reaching out. I will probably put it on my .416 also.
