Oh, how we love a good barnyard book, and -- could it be? -- we may have found our favorite of all time in this winsome tale. Millie is a milk cow with a penchant for mischief: her favorite hobby is to scare the stuffing out of the poor mail carrier, resulting in a string of damaged deliveries to one irritated farmer lady. The bedraggled mailman finally comes up with an ingenious plan, but things quickly go awry, leading to a crazy chase scene that leaves everyone a little worse for wear. Will Millie redeem herself? Let's just say Millie's got a few surprises to deliver! (And while Millie may be the milk cow with the mostest, check out her chicken friends, who do their best to steal the show.)

Any book that can make our whole family howl with laughter deserves 5 stars. My kids love having us read the book to them, as well as studying the illustrations on their own. Great book for kids ages 3-7.

This delightful book tells the story of a milk cow whose sole joy is startling the mailman. The mailman soon comes up with a plan that changes everyone's mail experience. This cute story has fun pictures and makes adults and kids laugh.

My son received this book last spring. Since then, we have given it as a gift 3 times!
The story is easy to grasp, and funny. But my favorite part of the book is the illustrations - there's an entire saga going on with the chickens on the farm!
Highly enjoyable for young and old alike.

I was excited to find this book Millie Waits for the Mail at my local library and bring it home to my little girls (4 and 5.5). WE have fun in our family "waiting for the mail". It is a highlight to our days for the little girls.
So I may have been expecting too much from this book in the hopes it would be a fun read that fits our life and maybe even be a "keeper".
Millie is a cow who enjoys scaring and chasing the mailman. The illustrations of Millie finding hiding places are very cute. We had fun finding her. (It wasn't too hard as she is a cow! LOL!) The story moves along about how this must stop as the postman doesn't like it and the packages always arrive broken. I do not want to spoil the rest of the story but the story seemed to me to be very choppy and incomplete.
We did have fun reading it but it did not grab hold of me or my dds. My son wondered what was in the package that was not revealed to us. The ending seemed to be abrupt. I don't know - like I said maybe I had too high of hopes for this book. It is a cute book just not a keeper for us (meaning we will not be buying our own copy.)It will remain a library book. One I doubt we will check out again. Too bad. The story line had so much potential!

We have 2.5 year-old twins and story time has become a challenge because they have very different interests, but this book has become a true favorite! It has a COW (MOOO) and a MAILMAN (Hi, Mailman!) and funny pictures with absurd hiding places for a cow. Not too long. Not to short. Just right!

Absolutely loved this book, so much so that I had a hard time giving it away to a child for a gift. Terrific story line and illustrations.
