This was the second time we used Milliken Legato carpet tiles in a room in our home, and we remain extremely impressed. They are a breeze to install, they wear as well as the best roll carpet, and if they should get stained or damaged, you can easily replace individal tiles (we bought an extra carton for each room for just this reason). The adhesive backing holds the tiles firmly in place on a floor but allows them to be easily removed for replacement. The only tools you need to install the tiles or relace them are a utility knife with a sharp blade and a metal straight-edge of some sort.

We have now used these tiles in two rooms where installing a roll carpet would have been a huge headache -- a home office and a basement rec room. Emptying those rooms of furnishings would have meant disassembling computer work centers and a pool table respectively. With the Milliken tiles we were able to move the furniture in question to one side of the room while we carpeted the other side, saving huge amounts of time. In both rooms they also offered a welcome layer of insulation on cold floors, and no one would ever guess they aren't professionally installed roll carpet.

The tiles have been in place in the home office now for three years, and despite very heavy traffic (adults,kids and pets),it is showing absolutely no sign of wear. When the tiles get dirty, we steam-clean and shampoo them as we would a roll carpet. We couldn't be happier.

By the way, for our second purchase of these tiles we selected an Amazon retailer, Modular Designs of Tennessee LLC. The toal cost, including shipping, was about 15% less than we would have paid at our local Lowes, and the tiles arrived via FedEx two days after we placed the order. They were on our doorstep when I arrived home from work on a Friday, and my son and I were shooting pool on the new carpet by 8:00 Saturday evening.

Purchased these squares to replace some old carpet we had in the basement. Liked the idea of being able to pull out a stained tile if to our 2 year old had a spill. Anyway, although the product is a little pricy, it installs very nicely and seems to be fairly good quality- it actually has a modest pad bonded to the carpet. We'll see how it holds up over the long haul.
Also, ordering through amazon was easily 15% cheaper than purchasing from Home Depot or Lowes. Good deal!
