Milliken Legato Carpet Tile,
This review is from: Milliken Legato Embrace 'Almond Brittle' Carpet Tiles (Misc.)
We love these carpet tiles and they have saved the day for our basement remodel. They do not have a highly sticky back so they can be taken up and easily replaced. This worked great for us when our basement flooded. We took the squares out and dried them in the sun and then put them back. They are treated so there has been no mildew or smell and they still stay in place just as if they did when new. The adhesive is not a "glue down" type it is a special backing that grips the subfloor and keeps the tile in place. After a few vacumings the lines between the tiles virtually disappear. The carpet is excellent for a basement, recreation room, office, but is not the same appearance of a high grade installed carpet.

First, these aren't your traditional carpet squares which glue down. These feel like real, professionally installed wall to wall carpet. Cushion is built in and no special tools or skills are needed to install.
The back of these carpet squares is similar to a 3M post it note. Its tacky but not permanent. The squares are heavy and don't need glue to hold them down. The tacky back is just to keep them from shifting. I use mine in the basement. My basement gets a leak sometimes on rainy days, and like the other reviewer, I just pull up the affected area and dry them outside. The carpet is plush and feels warm in the basement. The other great thing is we have a dog and a cat which from time to time get sick, or have other accidents on the carpet. I simply take the square that is affected outside and hose it off, then wash it with a brush and soap. I let it dry and it always comes out. This is a far better way of getting everything out of the carpet than a steam cleaner. Any tiles which have become too stained to clean I simply discard and put down a spare from the box. Though this is rare as this stuff really resists staining. Out of the 8 years I have had my Legato, I've only replaced 3 tiles.

The carpet tiles isn't what I expected. They don't have hardly any sticky matter on them to put down. I want to return these because I'm disappointed and I want to be reinbursed. These are not going to work for me because I was looking for carpet tiles that I wouldn't have to add more adhesive to.
Thank you, Allene Barnard |
