AN EXCELLENT BRGINNING TEXT.
A good basic text on milling, not a detailed "how to". If you would like a good, readable book on the basic milling operations that can be done on a lathe this is a good book

Update required
I'm planning to buy a mill but first I wanted to check out if this book might help me using my lathe as a mill. As a schoolbook it covers the issue, but I would very much like to see this book coming to this century. Whole pictorial and lots of issues covered are ancient history. Nice to know as such, but not so easy to made useful today. I like the book...

I like the book series and I have bought several of the series. This one was a bit disappointment.
