Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Everybody can relate to pizza, car . . . and Allyson Lewis, a financial whiz who dishes up a slice of reality!

Most people believe that investing is something they'll do when they have more "disposable" money. Allyson Lewis disagrees. She raises a compelling argument that the trivial choices we make today play a big difference on how we live tomorrow.

Let's say, at 30, you invest your $340 car payment into a stock mutual fund. By the time you turn 65, you'd be a millionaire! Or perhaps you invest the $20 a week you spend on pizza. You'd have $250,000! The morale is, our financial futures boil down to choices. Does this mean you should never buy a new car or enjoy a pizza? Absolutely not! It means that you need a plan: one that helps you focus on where you are today, where you need to be tomorrow and how you'll get there from here.

Inside The Million Dollar Car and $250,000 Pizza top financial advisor Allyson Lewis will:

* Guide you through the 7 steps to creating your financial plan
* Dispel investment myths
* Explore investment truths
* Explain your investment alternatives

5.0 out of 5 stars As Good as it Gets for Someone Like Me, April 27, 2000
This review is from: Million Dollar Car & $250,000 Pizza (Paperback)
This is an excellent resource for someone like me, who knows absolutely nothing about investment. You could call this "investing for dummies" but without the cutsie, condescending attitude of those kind of books, and with actually quite a lot more depth. That, I think, is the real strength of this book, its depth. You can use it as a powerful intro primer on investing (the perfect gift for a teenager or young couple) and you can use it to look deeper and learn a LOT more about something that is extremely important to all of us.

I think the most important thing about this book is how the humanity and decency of the author shines thru. The "greed is good" guys rightfully scare the daylights out of most of us, and to see someone functioning with an obvious level of integrity makes the book almost like having your dad or mom, (who just happens to be one of the leading experts in investing) available to give you advice on how to get rich without selling your soul.

Allyson writes a very practical book about financial planning that is very educational and helpful. I've recommended this book to engaged couples, college graduates, and my collegues. It is a great resource for understanding your personal finances. As Allyson says: "Your finances are your responsiblity." The more you know the better you are in planning for the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Million Dollar Car and $250,000 Pizza, June 16, 2000

David R. (Scarsdale, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Million Dollar Car & $250,000 Pizza (Paperback)
I have recommended Allyson Lewis's book to several of my collegues and have encourage them to share or purchase a copy of it for their kids in Graduate School, College, as well as High School. This book is a roadmap for a successful financial future.

Allyson Lewis clearly demonstrates general and complex financial planning strategies via story telling. A most effective way to deliver her message- This is a text on how to build wealth and see the true value in the hard earned dollars we all take home each pay period.

I was about to play catch-up with "The Jones Family" when I read your thoughtful words and know in 5 years time I'll have an extra $75k in my investment portfolio! Thanks for the sound advice- it could not have come at a better time.
