Book Description

Million Dollar Trilogy September 22, 2009
In the final installment of his immensely popular Million Dollar trilogy, the #1 Essence bestselling author delivers a juicy and shocking conclusion that his throngs of fans will never forget.

The scandalous end: RM Johnson’s eagerly anticipated denouement lures us back into the tragic, soap operatic love triangle that has riveted readers since The Million Dollar Divorce. The tension and suspense are ramped up to an all- new high in an ending to the series that will not disappoint.

Fan favorite: The Million Dollar series had Johnson’s fans raving and begging for more. The Million Dollar Divorce was a terrific success and The Million Dollar Deception is exceed- ing expectations out of the gate. As the track record clearly shows, this is a saga that readers have sunk their teeth into.

The author at his best: Picking up where The Million Dollar Deception left off, Johnson’s well-known cast of char- acters are at it again, engaging in a tableau of backstabbing, duplicitous, vengeful behavior that only he could paint with such riveting depth.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

The crazed conclusion of Johnson's Million Dollar trilogy opens with a literal bang. Freddy Ford shoots millionaire Nate Kenny and Nate's ex-wife, Monica, at Nate's Chicago mansion and kidnaps Nate's three-year-old adopted son, Nathaniel. The reason? Nate reneged on rewarding him for his part in a blackmail scheme that led to the arrest of Freddy's best friend, Lewis Waters, in the previous book, The Million Dollar Deception. Lewis was getting too cozy with Monica, whom Nate is eager to remarry. As a result of their serious gunshot wounds, Nate and Monica (who's in a coma) miss Lewis's hearing, at which he's set free. In a weird twist of fate, Lewis agrees to help Nate find Freddy, who's holding Nathaniel for $5 million ransom, if Nate will do Lewis a favor. Meanwhile, Nate's spurned lover, Daphanie Coleman, pregnant with another man's child, plots her revenge. The rushed ending suggests the duplicitous Nate could return to commit further mischief in a sequel. (Sept.)

Review

“RM Johnson has set his sights on becoming one of the most daring and insightful novelists of his generation.”

—Colin Channer, author of Satisfy My Soul

“Engrossing. Johnson’s blunt, no-frills prose sketches a chilling portrait of an egomaniac who just doesn’t understand the high price tag of greed.”

Publishers Weekly

The Harris Men is a superb novel—profoundly written, deeply engaging, and long overdue.”

—E. Lynn Harris, author of Just Too Good to Be True and Any Way the Wind Blows

5.0 out of 5 stars Million Dollar Drama, September 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Million Dollar Demise: A Novel (Million Dollar Trilogy) (Hardcover)
Nate & Monica Kenny are back. "The Million Dollar Demise" picks up where "The Million Dollar Deception" left off. Monica and Nate have just been shot by Freddy Ford, Lewis Waters best friend. The always scandalous Nate tricked Freddy into setting Lewis up with the promise of a new home for Freddy, his mother and his girlfriend. Nate buys the taxes and takes Freddy's moms home, demolishing it and leaving him homeless and without his girl Kia, who quickly aborts their unborn baby.

Freddy shows up at Nate's door for revenge and accidently shoots Monica in the mix. Freddy quickly grabs Nate's adopted son Nathaniel and jets out if town to Atlanta to stay with an ex. Meanwhile Lewis is going crazy because his former love Monica is in a coma and he is worried about Freddy and wants answers as to why Fredy hurt Monica. Nate's is keeping Lewis' daughter Layla until Lewis assists Nate in finding Freddy and little Nathaniel. Add to the mix more of Nate's crazy schemes and you've got drama for days! Monica wakes up to some crazy things going on, including a supposed pregnancy for Nate's ex Daphanie.

This book is a true page turner and is also one of the best I've read in a long time! A lot of author's bring back characters, but some need to leave those old characters alone because the book ends up wack. I won't name names lol. R M Johnson however brings new, exciting plot twists with the same characters!! I wouldn't mind a 4th book in the "Million Dollar" series to see what becomes of everyone!! 5 stars!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Drama Continues ! (4.5 stars), December 28, 2009
This review is from: The Million Dollar Demise: A Novel (Million Dollar Trilogy) (Hardcover)
Nate, Monica, Freddy and Lewis are all back in this third installment of the Million Dollar series. Nate and Monica are left in serious condition after Freddy shoots them and leaves them for dead. Freddy adds more danger to the mix by kidnapping little Nate and fleeing the state with him. Meanwhile, Lewis is still waiting on his day in court and is trying to get his daughter Layla back. In a bizarre twist, Nate tries to get Lewis to help him get his son back. Will Lewis be willing to help him? Nate's fiancé Daphanie has her own issues to deal with when she finds out that she is pregnant with Nate's child. But a nasty little secret may ruin the perfect future that Daphanie has planned for herself and Nate. Will everyone get what they want in the end?

The Million Dollar Demise is the perfect final installment to The Million Dollar trilogy. RM Johnson once again brought back the characters that we all love and hate. This story picks up right where The Million Dollar Deception leaves off with Freddy shooting Nate and Monica. The non-stop drama continues throughout the whole book and will keep you glued to the pages. Once again Nate is as ruthless as ever in his various schemes to get what he wants. Johnson did a good job with adding a plethora of shocking twists to this story. Although this is supposed to be the final installment of this series, you can clearly tell by the end of this book that there could be possibly another installment in the future. The Million Dollar Demise is a true page-turner that doesn't disappoint.
