The book was consuming, and I mean literally because I read it in one afternoon not able to put it down. It is so true that there are too few mentors in this business with the expertise and having the time to share their personal success. They don't have the time because they are too busy creating and living their success. Dave manages to capture their time for you while asking all the questions that you would if you had the chance. It was inspiring to hear the actual steps that people took to create their success. It left me feeling like it is not to late to change the trajectory that I am on and set a new course in my own career. I will read it again and use it as a compass in my own practice. I recommend it to anyone interested in taking their business to a next level.

I found this book really easy to read, the author was straight and to the point with a lot of great advice. The chapters are divided by characteristics that top earning advisors share and even though the advice may seem "touchy-feely" on the surface, it resonated with me and gave a great perspective on what success looks like for financial advisors. I'd recommend it to anyone starting out in the field or to someone looking for a fresh perspective and a boost in confidence.

Financial advisors who aspire to generate at least $1 million in revenues annually will find solid-gold advice in this motivating, straightforward sales book. Author David J. Mullen Jr. surveyed the 15 "top producers" he got to know during his 30-year tenure in the financial services industry to tease out their secrets to building million-dollar-plus advisory practices. Mullen, who formerly trained financial consultants at Merrill Lynch, breaks down their achievements into 13 "success principles" that define the crème de la crème of personal finance. Getting to that first (or second) million takes hard work, but it is not rocket science. getAbstract recommends this easy to read book to tyro consultants looking to get off the ground and to experienced professionals wanting to zoom their business into the stratosphere.

Quick Review: If you buy only book ever, this is it! Dave is very specific, gives you the verbage that you can make you own, gives multiple stories of people who have built their book themselves and from scratch, and gives you the plan. Did you noticed I said "gives" a few times? I can't emphasize it enough, this book is a gift to those aspire to become big producers but just need the guidance


Long Review:

17 months at the firm whose training program is unrivaled on the street and I learned more about the business and how to approach the business by reading 265 pages in this book. I read it once within two days and now I am reading it again. This book truly addresses what few other books do and that is how to build a financial advisory practice from the ground up for people who don't have extraordinary resources. This book truly addresses what no other book does and that is how to build a financial advisory practice from the ground up for people who don't have extraordinary resources (repeated because I can't be there to stare you in the eye and tell you that you are doing yourself a huge disservice if you do not read this book).

One reason this industry chews up and spits out so many aspiring big producing advisors is threefold: 1)People who have made it don't make time to pass on the knowledge, 2)Not all wildly successful advisors are great teachers, 3) Some of them are insecure and are worried you might take business from them. Over the course of my 17 months in the industry I have worked very hard trying to get the pearls of wisdom that are just laid out in this book.



P.S. Don't let mediocre advisors in the industry steal you career. They will try to fill you with doubt and make you second guess yourself. Get this book so you can have the stories, strategies, anecdotes of some of the biggest producers in the industry.

P.S.S Dave-Whatever book you are working on now please get it out ASAP. I could have used this book 17 months ago. Yesterday I had a colleague ask to borrow the book when I was done. My reply was for him to buy his own damn book! (I keep my copy in my briefcase)

If you have ever wished you could talk to the top FA's in our industry and find out how they made it, then the "Million Dollar FA" is for you. The book not only gives you the FA's best practices but also a step by step system to implement them.

The strategies have been very easy to include in my daily activities. I had immediate success with the tactical strategy of getting more assets from existing clients.

As an FA on a plateau I found the personal example of Henry Camp very inspiring. It not only talks about how he changed his mindset but also the actions he took to go from being an "average performer" to a multi million dollar FA.

Dave has taken his years of experience as a FA and Manager and his ability to teach to create a must read book for anyone who wants to take their business to a higher level.
