Fun but needs so much work!!!,

This review is from: Million Dollar Password [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
Since this is the first video version I have seen of a password game, I was generous with my rating.
I generally have fun playing, but it is very confusing! You have no idea when someone has skipped the current word and already gone onto hints for the next word. At a minimum, they could surely have had a screen flash new word. Also, you are playing aginst the computer to beat its score. But you never see the computer playing! You even have to go through 2 screens to see the computer's score you are competing with as well as the words you missed! And at the end, you have no idea how much the computer bet you by. This was obviously a very poorly designed game with not much thought given to making it themost enjoyable of game experiences.

Don't waste your money,
This review is from: Million Dollar Password [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
I seldom write reviews, but this game needs to go back to the drawing board. The game drags on with animated celebrities and screen graphics which have nothing to do with playing the game. Clues are not given quickly and the game is not seamless. It's choppy and slow and very boring. The game needs a complete overhaul.

Game is slow with changing the words,

MDP (for short) is based on the recent CBS version of this game hosted by Regis Philbin, who's likeness and voice are here to guide you through the game. Unlike the TV show, this game differs in several ways:
You're always receiving the clues from the computer generated "celebrities." One of them, an older woman, reminds me of Betty White, and I'm guessing that's probably on purpose. When you get a password right, the computer wastes time by showing the celeb reaction and takes about five to ten seconds for clues to the next word. When you're racing against a time limit, every second counts, so this is annoying. When you skip a word, the computer does NOT show you the words at the end of the round. There might be a way to do this, by pushing a button or something - I'm not sure. But that's frustrating, leaving you wondering what the word was. The time limit for the main game I believe is 60 seconds, though I could be wrong. You change CGI celebs after two rounds. If you beat your opponent or the computer after four rounds, you play the bonus game. With every level, the words get harder, I've been stuck at Level 5 forever. The concept is good, but the time between getting the CGI celebs to give clues between words is slow - like "Come on, give the darn clue already!!" The game is challenging, that's for sure. If you want a PC word game, give this a try, but you might be disappointed. The one saving grace is that you don't need to stick the disc in your PC to play it every time.
