4.0 out of 5 stars historoc gathering of the great musicians from memphis area
i give it 4stars for the historic context.this was not a planned session, just four guys having fun and displaying natural talent.this was an exciting time for pop or rock and roll music and memphis was host to it.you can feel the excitement and appreciation that each artist had for the other.oh for the golden days of rock and roll.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: This is not the official BMG release, but a counterfeit product!
A word of a caution for anybody remotely interested in this material. It was just confirmed that BMG will officially release "The Complete Million Dollar Quartet" on Sep.19, 2006. This will feature for the first time ever, the COMPLETE RECORDED SESSION in the ORIGINAL SEQUENCE with 12 more minutes than any other previous release! Stay away from the cheap rehash labels...

This will feature for the first time ever, the COMPLETE RECORDED SESSION in the ORIGINAL SEQUENCE with 12 more minutes than any other previous release! Stay away from the cheap rehash labels (such as this Charly release), do yourself a favor and seek out the original BMG release when it comes out. The sound quality alone will be superior to anything out there as they've used tapes from Elvis' own archives.

This isn't a polished, highly edited studio recording - so don't expect it to sound like one. The quality of the recording is what you would expect for that era. Don't expect clean, digitized quality - it's comensurate with the technology of the time. This is a really fun "listen in" on a session with these greats, complete with some of the dialogue and goofs that take place in recording sessions. It's like sitting in with them while they're jamming. If you're a fan of any or all of these guys, this is a really fun CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Elvis and other stars jam session, January 3, 2007

This is like something that you dream about. I didn't even know that this event ever happened. The first disc of the actual "Jam" session is not as good a recording as we are used to today, but that's because this whole thing was unplanned and just happened. All that the owner of Sun Records could do was turn on the mikes that were standing around and hope for the best.

The second disc is very well mastered and contains songs by all four of these legends in slightly different versions sometimes of songs we are familiar with, so that is kind of nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't belive it !, February 25, 2007
This review is from: The Million Dollar Quartet: 50th Anniversary Special Edition (Audio CD)
It was a miracle that this ever happened. When you listen to this cd, which has been remastered well, you'll probably scratch your head & say "Well, I'll be" . It's awesome. Worth listening to even if you are not a fan of the masters.

I understand the significance of this. That is, having to wait until all four were dead due to contractual arrangements. However, I didn't enjoy it at all. Not something you would listen to very often,
