Peter Mayer blew me away,
By Jason Shelton (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Million Year Mind (Audio CD)
Peter Mayer is an amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist. I had the pleasure of hearing him at a local house concert recently and was awed by his musicality, technical prowess and lyrical gifts. Million Year Mind has some real gems that show the depth of his own mind. No mushy love-gone-wrong songs here - only tunes that will inspire you to change your world, or at least your world view!

Million Year Mind,

I had the pleasure of hearing Peter last night up close and personnal with a small crowd of 165 friends. Awesome gentleman, excellent singer. A little James Taylor, a little Phil Ochs, poetry like Dylan, various rhythms like Paul Simon. He is thoughtful, humorus, and insightful. Buy one of his CDs and you will buy others. Attend one of his concerts and you will buy them all. ... His music can be listened to again and again, over and over, with as much joy as though you were listening for the first time. Yea, 5 stars covers it well!

An excellent intro to an emerging star,
By James P. Wetter (Cleveland, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews

Why aren't songwriters like Peter Mayer more well-known? I'm not sure, but I get a kick out of hearing people say, "Who is this guy? He's pretty good. He should be on the radio." In a world filled with fluff and garbled lyrics, this CD is a thought-provoking breath of fresh air. Blessed with a captivating voice, Peter wins us over with the sense that he is really having a good time in his career. There is a balance of dark and light songs here along with some really excellent guitar playing. I played "Now Touch the Air Softly" for my wife and it is now her favorite. Get this CD and be introduced to a wonderful artist.

Wow!,
By John Lawson (Appleton USA) - See all my reviews

Peter's album Million Year Mind is just about the very best album he has ever produced in my view. There are so many classic tracks on this CD. 'Like A Mountain' is my favorite and I was privleged to hear Peter sing it live at the church where I am a youth minister. When he came to our Church in October he won everyone over in an instant. I'm just amazed and saddened that he hasn't captured a much wider audience as he is just so obviously one of the best singer-songwriters around in the USA today in any field of music. He is also a very talented musician in his own right. I'm not really a great fan of folk music as such but when I listen to Peter's work I not only enjoy the music I am personally challenged as a human being to re-think my perspectives on life in general. Over the past six months I have passed this album on to friends and family aged from 16-80 and all have fallen in love with it. This is one super album that you will not regret buying I promise you and I'm sure - like me - you will want to share its gems with everyone you know.

Peter Mayer "Million Year Mind",
By Glen Darling (Indiana, USA) - See all my reviews

While this album is very smooth and well written, it was not what I was expecting. When I ordered it, I thought I was getting a new album from Jimmy Buffett's guitar player. This is a different Peter Mayer! That fact aside, it is a very listenable album with good guitar work, a nice mix of different instruments and good variety in the songs.

Great Songs for the person on the journey to Truth! Sounds like Mayer is one of those with...fun, depth, great voice and guitar. Sees life's quirks and helps one to sing about it. Go figure...everything is holy now...who would have thought it would make such penetrating beauty.

This is the most exciting music I have heard in years Peter's musical skill is well represented on this CD. He gets sounds from the guitar that make you think he is playing many instruments. He takes you on a journey that lets you see things in a different way and makes you think about life. His enthusiasm for life leaps out and makes you want to take that journey with him. I look forward to his next CD.

Peter Mayer is the best folk artist of all time. The combination of intuitive lyrics and soothing guitar provide an overall aesthetic experience. This is music that should be shared by and with all.
