Book Description

A sweet love story and a steamy read. The Millionaire Falls Hard has been described as both. Which description will stay with you? Will you fall in love with Jake? Will you want to knock their heads together?

In The Millionaire Falls Hard we meet Carrie, a world renowned children's author, and Jake, an award winning international businessman. Carrie is receiving anonymous threats that become more and more, well, threatening. Coupled with that, her best-forgotten past catches up with her.

When she has a meltdown Jake is there for her and, in true alpha male style, takes charge. The attraction between them is sizzling but Carrie runs from it. As they attend the same event in Miami, Jake decides 'enough is enough'! By this time Carrie is powerless to resist the need burning within her.

Once the passion explodes between them, neither of them sees much of Miami!

Does life intervene again to set them apart or is their passion enough to ensure a happy ever after?

This novel is a similar style to novels referred to as 'category romances' and it features a wealthy alpha male, a strong female and well developed secondary characters. The sex scenes are explicit.

About the Author

Sarah has loved reading and writing stories since her childhood. Life and a career intervened and it took the economic downturn to get her back to writing. As she loves reading romance it was only natural that she would end up writing them! She now lives in Scotland in a male dominated household and is thrilled to have the opportunity to dream up stories. Although the Scottish weather can be a real challenge to her imagination when she is trying to get into a scene set somewhere hot!

Who creates the cover for e-books? This cover is working against the success of this book because it is a sweet well-written modern romance with a story to tell, but the cover screams tasteless story-less erotic porn. So is it too late to change the cover and perhaps the title because it tells little of what happens in the story.
Possible new titles could include, 'Single-mum and Tech millionaire heal and love' or 'Finding a new life and love in Scotland' Why do I feel like I'm writing newspaper headlines? OK, so I admit that finding succinct titles is a difficult process.
This only has one 'sexy' scene and then some memories that rehash the event after the fact, that only happens after hundreds of pages and three months in book time passing. This is NOT a crazy no plot erotic book, in fact, it is a romance novel with the worse cover picture because it is going to turn away the vanilla sweet romance readers!
This is well written and developed character with a host of secondary romances occurring around the main H/h. There is a mystery around a stalker for Carrie and her son Charlie. The characters have already survived a lot of life before finally finding love with each other.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disliked the hero March 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I began the book, I liked Jake and disliked Carrie for being so testy and so easily prejudiced against him. However, the more I got to know Jake and Carrie, the more I liked and cheered for Carrie and hated Jake and his assumptions about Carrie. The imbalance of power I felt between the two also made for a less interesting relationship. When he started being the rock for her to lean on, I couldn't help but feel that he had one foot out the door anyways. In the end, after all the Carrie has been through since childhood, I felt like she deserved better than Jake. The side characters were all great, though! I sort of wish there was a book about their best friends, Lynne and Phil.

2.0 out of 5 stars It Didn't Click For Me February 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I couldn't get past the absolutely detestable hero. He was bossy, manipulative and selfish. He abandoned her for 8 weeks without any word at one point. He was continuosly going behind her back to acomplish what he thought was best for her I found it just too sneaky. A little more of a partnership and a wee bit of open communication can accomplish goals without the angst he created throughout this story.

It was easily predictable who the villian was no big mystery there. When they finally had relations, it seemed to stretch for endless pages. I had to skip over much of it.

I decided to read this since it was a freebie and had been given 4 stars. I should have been more leary when I discovered it is a first time reviewer giving out all those stars. I hope you like it better than I did. Enjoy

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for Me December 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
No matter how many times I tried to get into this story I just could not. It seemed like a really good book to me at first. But the book did not grab me and pull me in like I thought it would. So for this I did not finish the book and just deleted it. I wish the author would have put a little more bite into the first chapter to catch my eye. But that is just my opinion..If your the type of person that likes to be grabbed in the first chapter than don't get this book but if your the type that doesn't mind a slow take off good luck..

4.0 out of 5 stars A surprise February 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have to admit this is not a kind of genre I normally read. However, having had the book recommended I thought I would give it a try, especially since it was so cheap for my Kindle. I was surprised to find it difficult to put down. The plot is good, the characters likable, the sex scenes of a kind that gave me a bad conscience, feeling I should be hiding the fact I was reading it from my wife. If (or hopefully when) the author writes the next one, I am sure to pick it up if I need an easy read.

3.0 out of 5 stars An okay read April 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While there are parts of the book I find enjoyable, there were others that made it not as enjoyable to me. I liked the main characters, most of the time, although that's typical for most characters. However, they let their combination of preconceived notions and past history influence how they interacted for way too much into the book. I felt that it was a constant hot and cold type of relationship, where one second they are totally together and the next conflicting. The plot related to the threatening notes was strong. My biggest complaint is that after these threats are resolved, there are pages upon pages of sex. The plot sort of drops off for a while...and eventually picks up again, resolving itself very quickly. All in all, it was an okay read. The author shows a lot of promise but needs to refine parts of this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Predictable September 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Needs a bit of tweaking - many of the conversations/arguments were a bit childish and immature. Hard to picture normal adults saying some of the things that were said. Otherwise a sweet read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good story well told March 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book, so much so that I read it in one sitting. Not only is it sufficiently steamy to satisfy most fans of this genre, it also has a well thought out plot exposing the layered personalities of the two main characters. Further compliments to the author for creating suspense by not giving anything up too soon, while still avoiding painfully dragging out any plot lines. Another review mentioned that a deeper development of the back story/motive of the villain was desired, but personally I was quite satisfied with the one given. I was, however, interested in hearing more about Carrie's reaction when she discovered the villain's identity (which, by the way, I didn't see coming), but didn't actually find that it detracted from my enjoyment of the book. Overall, definitely a good read.

More About the Author

Sarah Fredricks lives in Central Scotland with her family.

As a child, Sarah loved writing stories and still remembers the two stories she wrote under exam conditions for her 'O' level english! On leaving school, her career took over and for a long time her creative outlet was through singing and performing in amateur operatic productions. She left a successful corporate career after 20 years and became a self-employed management development trainer. This second career is filled with peaks and troughs and during a particularly long trough she started writing her first novel. The peaks took over again and the novel was only finished in February 2012.

Sarah still delivers some training however, now the first novel is available she's going to go straight into writing her next one.

Sarah has been reading romance novels since the age of 15 and would happily never read anything else, but she belongs to a local book club which encourages her to broaden her reading! And Sarah would be the first to admit, she's read some great novels outwith the romance gentre!

When she's not busy writing, training or creating digital art, Sarah plays an active role in her community, enjoys time with her family and still sings (but not as much as she would like to).
