Do Family Ties Really Bind?,
By
This review is from: The Millionaire Mistress (Paperback)
In Tiphani's debut novel, The Millionaire Mistress, you witness the love/hate relationship of cousins Chloe and Oshyn. They were both raised by their grandmother who treated them differently. Chloe was always bearing the brunt of neglect and Oshyn was praised and nurtured. The difference was apparent even after they both lived on their own. Leaning on the fact that they were blood relatives is what kept them tolerating each other.
While Oshyn was being neglected and abused by her boyfriend Trent, Chloe was living the high life of a gold digger, often robbing and blackmailing her tricks. Chloe's alternative lifestyle was not a secret to Oshyn but the depths of her pockets were. Oshyn knew Chloe made money but had no idea that it amounted to millions. When Oshyn leaves Trent and moves on to become a successful business woman, the green-eyed monster on Chloe's back is fully awakened. It only makes matters worse when Oshyn finds love with Brooklyn. Although Oshyn was not looking for love and felt she could never trust another man, she could not deny Brooklyn's magnetism. How far can envy and lust push Chloe? Is blood truly thicker than water? With a new lease on life, will Oshyn really be able to live and love peacefully? Or will the demons of their past and family secrets wreak havoc on their futures? The Millionaire Mistress lacks smooth transitions between chapters. It is formatted to switch between Oshyn's and Chloe's point-of-view, which is okay, but at one point Tiphani may have forgotten which character she was writing about because the voice was Chloe's when it should have been Oshyn's. The story also seemed a bit rushed at the end. In its current state, I would be inclined not to recommend it to avid fiction readers. If it is revised with a better flow and more care given to the ending, Tiphani would have a five star masterpiece. Reviewed by Darnetta Frazier APOOO BookClub

If You Start a Race, FINISH IT!,

This review is from: The Millionaire Mistress (Paperback)
There's nothing worse than when someone starts something, it starts off good and strong and then....
I know. You were probably waiting on me to finish that sentence. Well that's how I felt when I got to the end of this book. I got to the end and wondered if my eyes were deceiving me. There must be some more pages. Maybe my copy was not complete. Uh...no. That's just the way it ended. Okay, so the premise of the book - you have two cousins, one good one bad, but they are both beautiful. The bad one is jealous of the good one, and the good one is oblivious. Good cousin gets the man, bad cousin wants him. Adding to the drama is the back story that their mothers had the same issue resulting in a tragic end. Will history repeat itself? Decent premise. The scene is set for some drama, some hateration, "oh no she didn't!" and a cat fight. Question is, what would Tiphani do with it? Millionaire Mistress is an okay read at best. It had potential, but didn't come full circle. I liked the whole cousin rivalry, the differences in the two and the entrance of Brooklyn. Both cousins had it going on in their own rights and really had no reason to be stressing the other. I also liked the subplot of Apples. There were even a few twists that came at just the right time. What I did not like is that so much was left unsaid and unanswered. Ideas introduced and not completed. I wish the author had spent more time developing this story, given us some more insight on their mothers and more realistic outcomes. Gunshots and no police. Come on now; maybe in some parts but not in some of these locations. But my biggest complaint and what ultimately brings down the rating of this book is the ending. I don't even know if the word "rushed" accurately describes it. The ending appeared to be just thrown together and does not do this book any justice. Sure readers aren't going to always agree with an author's choice of an ending, but d*mn! I'm giving this book 3 stars on the strength of the beginning. And what did the title have to do with this book??? Who was the millionaire mistress? What millionaire? Tiphani, a sister is not hating. Props to you for even putting your work out here for us to read, BUT with your future work, spend some more time creating a complete package from the cover (which was hot) to the title to the story itself; a story with a solid plot, developed characters, a good flow and consistency. That said, I wish you luck with your next novel.

I am not sure about this title, but this book is off da chain. Oshyn's cousin Chloe is wicked, and pure evil she uses sex the same way the characters in project chick, g-spot and candy licker terrorized their women.

This book is about 2 cousins, Chloe and Oshyn.Chloe is all about money and doesn't care who gets hurt in the process.Oshyn has been through alot with the guy she got pregnant by but he does her wrong and she ends up moving down south to get her and her child's life together.Oshyn meets Brooklyn, a big drug dealer and Chloe wants him for herself. At first I thought I wasn't gonna like this book but it held my attention.I had been waiting a long time for it.As a avid reader I read where family members hate each other but I think this one take the cake whereas family hate each other so much they are willing to kill one another.I will be looking forward to reading more of your work!!!

The Millionaire Mistress chronicles the lives of two cousins Oshyn and Chloe who due to a family tragedy were both reared by their maternal grandmother. The book opens with Oshyn relocating to Raleigh NC after escaping her mentally and physically abusive baby's father, Trent. Oshyn focuses on her career and son Micah while still healing the wounds caused by Trent's abuse. Oshyn has no room in her heart for love until gray-eyed Brooklyn Jones comes along.
But Brooklyn has to contend with more than just winning Oshyn over he has to avoid the conniving grasps of cousin Chloe, who has decided that Brooklyn is the perfect man for her. Chloe has been living high off of the hog suckering in men who've fallen for her sensuous charms. Chloe moves in with Oshyn after duping one of her marks for 1 million dollars in a blackmail scheme needing to lay low to avoid his wrath. Luring Brooklyn in with a money laundering deal to cleanse her ill gotten funds Chloe sparks a fuse that ignites a deadly chain of events. Author Tiphani Montgomery debut novel contains all the necessary elements (sex, drama and unexpected twists and turns) to secure her position as a newcomer in the urban lit. field to be reckoned with.

Life long opponents, Oshlyn and Chloe, are first cousins who share horrid memories about their mothers' lives, whose sibling rivalry has detonated the lives and futures of their children. Although the two have been known to ride together, there is still no denying that these two are enemies.
Chloe has a reputation for jostling men with long money. She prides herself on being that chick that no man can seem to pass. While playing her wild tricks, Chloe decides she may need some down time. Oshlyn is a hardworking single mother investing in her and her son's future. She's made the transition from Rochester, New York to North Carolina and hasn't regretted it at all. Closed off from love, Brooklyn Jones, a business man, tries hard to crack the ice surrounding Oshlyn's heart. Heartbroken, Chloe decides that she's not watching from the sidelines any longer. Will this family be compromised by fate, yet again? The Millionaire Mistress is a good first read stocked with drama, intensity, and love from new author, Tiphani Montgomery. Even though I found myself so caught up in the fast paced action of the pages, there was still a lot left unstated.

A True Page-Turner!!!,
This review is from: The Millionaire Mistress (Paperback)
Chloe and Oshyn are cousins that were raised together but they can't stand each other. After a horrible break-up with her boyfriend Trent, Oshyn moved to Raleigh, NC with her son is now a very successful business woman. Oshyn has been too busy to look for love until the sexy Brooklyn comes into the picture. Brooklyn lavishes Oshyn with extravagant gifts and she finally opens her heart to him. But is Brooklyn really the perfect man of her dreams? Chloe loves chasing money and rich men. She gets paid very well to satisfy the sexual needs of wealthy married men. Chloe's plan spirals out of control when a series of tragic events changes their lives forever.
The Millionaire Mistress is an excellent debut novel by Tiphani Montgomery. Montgomery penned a wonderful coming-of-age story about love, jealousy, betrayal, and dark family secrets. Readers will see the transformation in Oshyn as she picks up the pieces after a destructive relationship and becomes a successful woman. You will also see just how evil Chloe really is. This author added just the right touch of mystery and scandal that made this novel a true page-turner. The Millionaire Mistress is dramatic and exciting. With this novel, Tiphani Montgomery is ready to take the fiction world by storm.
