Reviewers actually work for Russ Whitney!,
By HansJaeger "Finance guy" (Salt Lake City, UT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset: Mastering the Mental Skills to Build Your Fortune in Real Estate (Paperback)
I know Ty and this Kingston character, and they both work for him. Those are his last few reviews that were positive. Its funny that he forces his employees or tells them for their own financial gain to go make amazon reviews for his book.Pathetic!!! They main objective is to get you to attend their "Giveaway class", which leads to a $2-300 class, and then leads to $4,000-5,000 classes, which last only a couple days. Hello? Sorry, your information and education isn't worth more than $100 a day in class, I've actually been to them and their information is incomplete AT BEST! He used to call his trading company division of Russ Whitney "teach me to trade", now its EduTrade. Would you make up for mind? I guess its easier when bad things happen because your a ripoff artist, to reinvent yourself. Everything these guys have to offer for stock research and screening tools can be bought for pennies on the dollar or found FREE at various websites such as MSN financial toolbox, or through your local broker such as Fidelity active trader pro, ETRADE, etc... They make it sound like they have a proprietary system that is better and their features found anywhere, but I found free software that worked even better Teach Me to Trade. Don't get sucked into the Russ Whitney trap, he's already rich enough from selling overpriced items to naive people!!! Yes people, listen to the others who have given this guy negativew reviews and do a search at the better business bureau and rip-off reports, this company who is pimping their book has some general information, but their are much better books out there.

Accept Russ Whitney's Challenge!,
This review is from: The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset: Mastering the Mental Skills to Build Your Fortune in Real Estate (Paperback)
I have had the privilege of meeting and talking with Russ Whitney on numerous occasions, and I am always impressed with his sincere desire to teach others how to build wealth and achieve financial success. I have read all of his books, and this is by far his best one yet. It's easy to read, the concepts are clearly explained, and it provides the tools anyone needs to develop the "millionaire mindset" and build a fortune. The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset is a unique combination of motivation and practical tips. It will force you to think about why you've been reading all these "how to make money in real estate" books but haven't made any money yet. Russ Whitney not only teaches, he challenges readers get out there and take action to achieve their goals. If you have dreams of a better life, this book will give you the tools to turn those dreams into a reality. Read it and go for it.

You must have passion for real estate if you want to succeed in it,
By
This review is from: The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset: Mastering the Mental Skills to Build Your Fortune in Real Estate (Paperback)
The author asks why isn't everyone rich and why are so many smart people struggling to get by, working jobs they hate? Many authors argue that anyone could be rich and while this can be true, I think it would be a disaster if everyone was rich. They say to build businesses and have other people do the labor. Who in the world would be doing any labor if everyone was rich? Most people hate doing their jobs as it is and the only reason why they are still doing it is because of lack of money. So I don't think everyone should be rich, but there is no reason why YOU shouldn't be the one and let everyone else be in the "rat race."What I like about this book is that the author not only provides some technical aspects of real estate investing, but also teaches the right mental attitude, which other books lack. He says that unless you enjoy the business of real estate, it is highly unlikely that you will be successful. I think this is so true because many people might rush into the business and later find out that they hate it. If you don't like real estate, find something else that you love and you will be more likely to succeed. Even Donald Trump stresses the same point in his books. - Mariusz Skonieczny, author of Why Are We So Clueless about the Stock Market? Stop playing around... change your life now!,
This review is from: The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset: Mastering the Mental Skills to Build Your Fortune in Real Estate (Paperback)
This book is for the person willing to change their life. It is very motivational, educational and most importantly inspiring. Russ Whitney took the time to teach the importance of changing your mindset to become more open to becoming rich through his techniques in real estate investments. I have many books on becoming a millionaire and financially independent and this one is the best I've read so far.

What's Stopping You?,
By
This review is from: The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset: Mastering the Mental Skills to Build Your Fortune in Real Estate (Paperback)
If you really want to become a millionaire by investing in real estate, you must read this book. Russ Whitney has "been there, done that." He started with less than nothing and has built an empire. He tells you how to overcome all the negative programming that's been fed into your mind all your life and believe that you can be the success you dream about. One of the best chapters was "What's Stopping You?" It hits fear head-on and deals with all of the excuses you could make to not get started. Then he tells you exactly what to do. All real estate investors-new and long-time-can benefit by reading this book. In fact, even if you have no interest in real estate, you'll be inspired to pursue whatever other dreams you may have, and you'll know how to put together a plan to get where you want to be. Many books claim to be a "must read" - this one really is.Review by Charlene Davis, co-author of "Make BIG Profits on eBay" (Entrepreneur Media, 2005).

Gotta love fake reviews,
This review is from: The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset: Mastering the Mental Skills to Build Your Fortune in Real Estate (Paperback)
I've never written a review before, but seeing fake 5 star ratings and reviews that are obviously phony, biased, and sound like they came straight from the publisher is starting to make me sick. Take these statements, for example, about the famous (sarcasm) Russ Whitney:"If there is a single book that could put you on the road to financial success, this is it." "Like fine wine, Russ Whitney is getting better with age." "Russ Whitney strikes gold again..." "Russ Whitney understands that and in The Millionaire Real Estate Mindset, he takes you by the hand and helps you get past your roadblocks." "Many books claim to be a "must read" - this one really is." "A must read." It doesn't help that I received an e-mail from "Russ" asking if I'd be so kind as to buy the book on Wednesday, February 15 so he could reach his "lifetime goal" of making the amazon.com bestseller list. The simple fact is that this author makes money off the people who are naive enough to get sucked into his infomercials. Buy this book and expect nothing more.

I'd give it 3.5 stars. This book was written in 2005, as the real estate market was reaching the top of the bubble. The examples throughout the book and explanations of deals are pretty much all based on the assumption of appreciating real estate. Essentially, the essence of the deal (and any big deal) is to leverage other people's money to make a large ROI on an appreciating asset. That works great when basically any home you buy is raising in value. We all know what is wrong with this assumption - as proved out only a few years later. Leverage works both ways - if you are highly levered up on other people's money and the asset you are having depreciates you can lose your entire investment and more (look at how many people are now underwater, getting foreclosed on, etc). It would be nice to see this book re-written with the new reality that you can't assume home price appreciation. The book itself overall is good as long as you don't get sucked into the idea that home prices always go up. It covers a wide range of possibilities for real estate investment and for non-traditional deals. These ways of thinking outside the box really are part of the millionaire mindset - people who can make big deals happen. I didn't think the book was a shill for selling his training courses. Yes, he emphasizes training and mentions that his students have made great deals. However, I wouldn't say the book is overly trying to get you to a training course. Basically - good book and helps open your mind to ways of thinking about deals. However, you need to take the examples with a grain of salt and realize they were written at the time home prices were strongly appreciating. Re-do the examples assuming home price depreciation of 10% / year and see what the deal looks like. That will help you learn that leverage comes with risk as well.
