Wayne Root is brash. He is obviously pondering a run in politics. The title annoys me. The standing on the car thing is goofy.

Now let's talk about the book.

Wayne Root gets it.

Ownership.

It's all about ownership and moving away from government dependence. Someone finally stands up and points out the obvious about privatized Social Security. There is no choice.

Realism. Does Wayne Root tell you, "Oh it's so easy becoming a millionaire....."??....no...that was all the other books. Root tells you the truth. It's hard work. It's really worth it. His early life story and rise to wealth resonate with my experience.

Failure after failure and refusing to quit. Always doing what the average guy won't. He went for what he loved and he got it. That's real. I respect that in a person more than just about anything.

Metaphor: His metaphor of taking 19 people out to lunch every week for the rest of your life and them expecting you to pay because you work hard and earn more money than they do...BECAUSE...you work smart and hard...is wonderful. It shows the clear divide between those who are in-dependent and those who feel they are entitled to eat off the plates of those who are independent.

His discussion on taxes is well done. His analysis of the current political situation. (Crummy democratic candidates for President coming in the next few elections...vs. a generally better group of Conservative options including McCain and Rice.)

I'm a Libertarian. I'm sick of the whole Red Blue thing, but Root creates a powerful argument for moving to a Red state. More jobs are being created there, more people are moving to Red and from the Blue...

He points out a fascinating statistic that 81% of all counties in America voted for Bush over Kerry. I'm not really much of a Bush fan, at least not in this second term, but clearly his arguments for the RESULTS of the last election are cogent.

Overall, I could have lived without the title. It's irritating to someone like me who did just fine without having a party affiliation. Nevertheless, if you had to choose....

Listen, give this book a read. It's passionate. He loves his work. He loves his wife. He loves his country.

And I found the book to be persuasive.

5.0 out of 5 stars 18 Proven Principles for Success in Life, September 19, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Millionaire Republican (Paperback)
"Millionaire Republican" caught my eye with it's clever title.

What I didn't expect was a SOLID list of steps that will help anyone be more successful in ANY career.

Regardless of your politics, the fact is that there are traits that the self made millionaires have in common. Root does a great job of covering these, along with an inspirational story of his own success that makes this a fascinating read.

Find out what the millionaires are doing and model success. Read "Millionaire Republican"

5.0 out of 5 stars Millionaire Republican...A great read with proven techniques while instilling a successful state of mind., September 23, 2006

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Millionaire Republican (Paperback)

When a man as smart, as wildly successful, and as phenomenally rich as Wayne Allyn Root bangs out a book telling you how he amassed (or, more appropriately, continues to amass) his fortune, anyone with a lick of sense and ambition would do well to pour over every page and absorb each nugget of insight on the off-chance that a tenth of his entrepreneurial brilliance might take. That's exactly what I did when I caught wind of "Millionaire Republican: Why Rich Republicans Get Rich, and How You Can Too!", and while jury's out on whether I'll reach the rich, rarefied air of, as he's known by his friends, "WAR", there's little doubt that my business philosophy has been completely transformed. I don't just want to be a Millionaire Republican: I want to be WAR.

That's right...WAR. If you've got a problem with that fierce sounding acronym, well, then, I'm afraid you might be too timid for the high roller league of a man whose all-out assault on the business world demands such an appellation. In other words, keep up that "well meaning" facade and, please, keep voting Democrat. There's no room for such queasy thinking on the dominant (Republican) side of the aisle, which is where WAR proudly resides (as I do), and where the only opportunity for massive financial success can be found.

What's so liberating (certainly not "liberal") about WAR's philosophy is his emphasis on the irrefutable fact that, for all intents and purposes, "Rich" = "Republican". It's something I always knew, but, to tell you the truth, it was something I didn't want to admit outside of like-minded company. Well, the secret (if it ever really qualified as a "secret") is out, and WAR is leading the charge to inform the rest of the public that there's only one political ideology that'll allow you to realize your grandest fiscal ambitions. WAR says what we've always thought: "The vast majority of business owners in America are Republicans. The vast majority of homeowners are Republicans. The vast majority of stock owners are Republican. The vast majority of millionaires are Republican." In other words, as he succinctly puts it, "The GOP is the party of ownership."

If that sounds like gloating, it really isn't. WAR may have an ego - which, as he maintains in one of my favorite chapters, is a good thing (WAR calls this Republican principle "The Ego Rules") - but his is a truly generous nature. Not only does he tithe 10% of his book earnings to a Christian Orphanage in Burundi, Africa called The Rainbow Centre (run by his cousins-in-law), he's giving us a peek behind the curtain and telling everyone - regardless of gender, race, creed, or political affiliation - how to improve and uplift ourselves. He teaches us about the 3 Great Republican Rules of Ownership, Salesmanship and Entrepreneurship (Risk-taking), the amazing "18 Republican Secrets of Mega-Wealth and Unlimited Success," and preaches the power of Red State dominance.

Living in Hollywood, I used to bristle when I heard my liberal counterparts speak derisively of the "Red States"; now, in the midst of the worst entertainment industry slump in decades, I just laugh as they wonder why they're not connecting with the audiences they so clearly (and openly) loathe. WAR is absolutely correct: this is "The Divided States of America". And I'm glad I'm on the side that "owns" rather than "rents", and that doesn't have a vested interest in keeping the poor miserable just to keep their rapidly eroding coastal footholds. By respecting the majority population of our great nation, I've had great success as a movie producer. My films have grossed over one BILLION dollars (by the time I hit 40 years old), and I expect to build on this because I'm not so foolish as to consider myself better than my fellow Americans (or Republicans).

It's been amazing and inspiring to watch WAR ascend from the top sports handicapper in Las Vegas to a nationally known and respected celebrity whose business savvy is now the stuff of legend. He is truly now the "King of Vegas" (also the name of the new primetime Spike TV series he'll Co-Executive Produce and star in starting in January). But even more remarkable are the things WAR talks about in his book that you'd never expect: WAR proudly states that his foundations in life are a faith in God and prayer; family; country; traditional marriage; philanthropy; and homeschooling (WAR homeschools his children!). His isn't a story of greed; it's an ode to the power of positive thinking, to thinking bigger than yourself, to believing in your success before you can clearly see it (the very definition of "faith"), and to the undeniable wisdom of being a Republican. The G.O.P. has no bigger defender, and the ambitious have no more learned teacher. God bless, WAR!

5.0 out of 5 stars Millionaire Republican - Regardless of your politics, September 20, 2006
This review is from: Millionaire Republican (Paperback)
The interesting part of this book, other than the title, is the commonalities found in every self made millionaire....something worth thinking about, studying and most certainly implementing, if the thought of being a millionaire tickles your fancy of course..

This is a book highly recommended for those not scared off by the millionaire opportunity, which often comes disguised in an overall called "Work". Read "Millionaire Republican"!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ideas for Investing like a Republican Millionaire, September 21, 2006
By
This review is from: Millionaire Republican (Paperback)
I thought this book would be about politics. It's not. It's about the mindset that makes so many Republicans so rich- just as Democrats and the media always state. Yes Republicans are richer than the rest of us- author Root explains why in this insightful book. Most of it boils down to his 18 Republican Rules for investing. I found them "right on the money." This is great stuff- I've implemented 3 of the rules already and will try to implement the other 15 over the next year. I have all 18 Rules sitting by my bedside to study nightly. This book is a real eye-opener for Democrats. Now instead of complaining about "rich Republicans" you have an opportunity to study them and become one yourself!

(rolls eyes). He also is in a business (gambling) that is about as
parasitic as you can get. I like to gamble in Vegas every so often myself,
but running a sports book business? It's legal, more power to Mr. Root,
but about as non-productive as any Democrat big-government advocate.
He also boosts such parasites (just in my opinion) as Amway
and other pyramid (multi level marketing) schemes. I also disagree with
his endorsement of Rich Dad Poor Dad Kiyosaki. Yuck.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed..., July 7, 2008
This review is from: Millionaire Republican (Paperback)
Root contradicts himself several times in this book. I did not have a sense that he was qualified to be writing this book. He spoke of his enormous success (very pompously) and stated his net worth was in the $5 million dollar range. He promoted himself more than his ideas and continually bashed all liberal politics. He made some good points (last chapter only) but I already at a mistrust developed by his 150 pages of ranting and raving. Obviously he is excited to be a "Millionaire Republican" as he calls himself throughout, but I don't believe this author to be world class. Call me and I will gladly send you my copy to save you the $$$. (I got it for a buck)--worth the dollar, just not the time spent reading it.

Root also speaks about shameless self-promoting and mentions specific instances where he had relatives call in requesting his services from employers...I bet he did the same with these reviews.

Millionaire Republican was a good read, motivational, and all that good stuff. I do recommend the book as a motivational tool.

Root made a big mistake in the first paragraph of the introduction, a mistake that caused me not to buy the book for a year. He refers to Robert Kiyosaki's "poor dad" as a "Liberal Democrat". In fact, Ralph Kiyosaki was a Republican, who once ran for Lt. Governor of Hawaii.
