The Millipore GTBP01300 Brown Polycarbonate Isopore Hydrophilic Membrane Filter is a 0.22 micron, 13mm diameter, hydrophilic, track-etched screen filter for analyses in which the sample is viewed on the surface of the membrane. This membrane filter is made of polycarbonate film that provides a smooth, glass-like surface for observing samples. It is manufactured to ensure a precise pore diameter and a consistent pore size for accurate separation of samples by size. It does not stain, so background interference is low, and clearing is unnecessary for most transmitted light microscopy. Matched-weight filters are not usually required because of low, constant tar and ash weights. The membrane filter is non-hygroscopic for rapid drying and reduced sample analysis time. It can be sterilized by autoclave at 121 degrees C at 1 bar, ethylene oxide processing, or gamma irradiation. The brown color may fade if autoclaved. These membrane filters are commonly used for analyses of airborne contaminants and other particles using optical or electron microscopy.
