We got this book at the library, not knowing anything about it. It's so very sweet and the illustrations are fabulous. My four -year old daughter loves the part where grandma is knitting Milo. I love that the girl in the story is a gracious gift recipient (an issue for our family) and that she appreciates the effort her grandmother put into her gift. (We do a lot of homemade gifts too...) It's a great story. We had it for three weeks and read it every single day. Now I'm going to buy it!

Love this book. We happened upon it from the library, and all three of my kids (6,5,2) LOVED it.

Great pictures, warm story of acceptance and being thankful for what you have been given!

A marvelous book with a story that kept the head start kids riveted to the very end and so happy about the ending. This is an excellent teaching about the disappointment that comes with not getting EXACTLY what we want, about being kind and appreciative for gifts, and more importantly about the possibiities that might open when things we thought we wanted and needed so much are not available.Tallulah wanted a pink fluffy rabbit for her birthday..every one of her friends had one and yet Talullah's family couldn't find one for her anywhere..grandma sets out to knit one but didn't have enough of the right yarn so ends up making a pink and multi colored armadillo instead..of course Tallulah eventually falls in love with Milo who is much better than a fluffy pink rabbit. Also a good teaching brougt out by another reviewer..the hurt and sadness caused when we make others feel they are not wanted or appreciated. Buy one for your Head Start, for your children's libaray and for all your friends under 6.
