We LOVED this book.,
This review is from: Milo Armadillo (Hardcover)
We got this book at the library, not knowing anything about it. It's so very sweet and the illustrations are fabulous. My four -year old daughter loves the part where grandma is knitting Milo. I love that the girl in the story is a gracious gift recipient (an issue for our family) and that she appreciates the effort her grandmother put into her gift. (We do a lot of homemade gifts too...) It's a great story. We had it for three weeks and read it every single day. Now I'm going to buy it!

Love this book. We happened upon it from the library, and all three of my kids (6,5,2) LOVED it.
Great pictures, warm story of acceptance and being thankful for what you have been given!

You Can't Always Get What You Want..But Sometimes What Comes is Even Better,
By Lindsay N. Bowker "We Are The Angels We Have ... (Stonington, Maine) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Milo Armadillo (Hardcover)
A marvelous book with a story that kept the head start kids riveted to the very end and so happy about the ending. This is an excellent teaching about the disappointment that comes with not getting EXACTLY what we want, about being kind and appreciative for gifts, and more importantly about the possibiities that might open when things we thought we wanted and needed so much are not available.Tallulah wanted a pink fluffy rabbit for her birthday..every one of her friends had one and yet Talullah's family couldn't find one for her anywhere..grandma sets out to knit one but didn't have enough of the right yarn so ends up making a pink and multi colored armadillo instead..of course Tallulah eventually falls in love with Milo who is much better than a fluffy pink rabbit. Also a good teaching brougt out by another reviewer..the hurt and sadness caused when we make others feel they are not wanted or appreciated. Buy one for your Head Start, for your children's libaray and for all your friends under 6.

Review from Books That Heal Kids,
By
This review is from: Milo Armadillo (Hardcover)
Milo Armadillo, I heart you. Thank you for teaching kids about acceptance, seeking approval, friendship, rejection, putdowns, being grateful, and appreciation. Phew! Are you picking up what I'm putting down? Lots of teachable moments in this one! I've really focused on the rejection theme in this book with students. Milo Armadillo has helped kids understand the hurt it causes. Milo was knitted special for Tallulah. Her attitude towards him makes him feel anything but special. Towards the end of the story he wants to unravel himself - he does not want to exist anymore. Very sad! During this part of the story, there was a mix of compassion, sadness, empathy, and care from students. They saw the pain rejection causes and they didn't like it. Luckily, Tallulah gets a second chance. In the real world, not everyone does. Milo Armadillo will encourage kids to remember to treasure one another. Such a great story! As a school counselor, I will be reading this LOTS to my students ages K-2.

Brilliant!,
This review is from: Milo Armadillo (Hardcover)
An absolutely delightful story that has an accompanying project for a suitably talented adult to create and to continue the magic forever for the child.Only thing is you need two balls of yarn of the main colour not one.
