PLEASE READ...CAN SAVE YOUR PET'S LIFE....PLEASE GET THE WORD OUT.....A federal judge has refused to dismiss a class action lawsuit that charges Del Monte subsidiary Milo's Kitchen produced chicken jerky treats that poisoned and killed dogs, a claim also leveled in many ConsumerAffairs postings.

"I just had to put my beautiful Shayna down from kidney failure, and am so irate to find out that it could have been my fault feeding her something that I thought was natural and from a company I thought was trustworthy," Leslie of Davie, Fla., said in a June 2012 posting.

Del Monte recalled the "home-style" dog treats in January after the New York State Department of Agriculture found trace amounts of antibiotics in several lots of chicken jerky treats.

The lawsuit, however, concerns a more wide-ranging problem -- one that the Food and Drug Administration warned pet owners about back in 2008 and on several occasions since then. In February, the FDA said it had received reports of 360 dogs dying and 2,200 becoming ill after eating jerky treats.
Chinese chickens

Many of the suspect treats are made with chicken from China, which is not approved for human consumption but can be legally fed to pets.
Del Monte Pet Foods July 3, 2013, 5:17 p.m.Consumers rate Del Monte Pet Foods

In the lawsuit, Lisa Mazur says that her healthy seven-year-old dog, Riley Rae, suffered kidney failure and had to be euthanized after eating the Milo's Kitchen treats, and she charges that despite the FDA warnings, Del Monte did not recall the treats or put warnings on the packages, Courthouse News Servicereported.

If I could give this line of dog treats zero stars I would. I purchased them through a big box pet store and thought they would be a nice change for my dogs who typically only received milk bones. Within 1 week of giving these treats to my chihuahua, she was in irreversible kidney failure and unfortunately had to be euthanized. The vet asked if there had been any changes in her diet- the only thing was the addition of these treats. As I did more research, I discovered these treats are manufactured in China and have been recalled on various occasions. Please DO NOT GIVE THIS TREAT TO YOUR DOGS!!

Ok, so product description on purchase page specifically states this product is made in, (pardon me, created in) the USA. Pretty tricky wording. Del Monte is company that is also producing other MILO products (eg, chicken jerky and grilled chicken) that don't say either way. Well, I ordered three products, this and other two chicken. Immediately noticed that the Chicken Jerky and Grilled Chicken were in package printed "MADE IN CHINA" ?!! I have chosen to not feed my dog anything Made In China, since all the problems with pet foods using products from there. I am a bit concerned that some are and some claim to not be. Not sure I understand Del Monte option to put out a product line that any of the line is made in china and then advertise that the product are created in USA. Very confusing and now I don't trust the packaging that states USA. Hmmm, a real shame as the dogs LOVE these brand treats... but not going to use any longer as concern for their health.

Thousands of animals have been poisoned by this evil corporations selling of contaminated Chinese "treats" over the years. Google this company and their disgusting poisonous treats for further verification. When two of my dogs were poisoned a few years ago (along with thousands of others!) This evil company lied, obfuscated, and never took responsibility for their deceit. This new treats my now be made in the USA but this lying company poisoned thousands of pets in the past and clearly will do so again if it increases their bottom line. BUY AT RISK OF POISONING YOUR BELOVED PETS!

Bad products from a bad company. Recently had our dog at the vet for diariah. Issue was propylene glycol which is included in many Milo's products. Once we stopped the Milo's treats problems cleared up, though there is some long term damage. My wallet is also short $500. Why would anyone choose to use a product from a company, Milo's, which thinks it is OK to feed our best friends antifreeze, which is what propylene glycol is.

Hi Frederick, we are so sorry to hear this. We are a company of pet lovers and there is nothing more important to us than the quality and safety of our products.

Propylene glycol, the safe and approved food ingredient used in many pet foods and snacks is often confused with ethylene glycol, a toxic material used in anti-freeze. Dogs can safely eat foods and snacks that contain propylene glycol, which is widely used in a variety of products, including semi-moist dog foods and treats, human foods and medicines. We add propylene glycol to several varieties to help the product remain moist. Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved propylene glycol for use in both human and dog food/treats.

Our team would like to look into this issue further - could you please share your contact information via our Contact Us form (http://www.bigheartpet.com/Contact/ContactUs.aspx) or call 888-645-5266 M-F?

This company's product made my dogs violently ill. The ingredient list should have told me that they were essentially garbage. Google Milos treats for yourself and find others horror stories about this deceitful company.

I would NOT feed this to my dog because it has preservatives, artificial caramel coloring and smoke flavoring although the package advertises NO artificial color or flavor!! Additionally, it contains SOY flour, rice flour, WHEAT gluten and SUGAR! I don't recommend purchasing this product.

These are not truely made in the USA. The meat comes from china, then shipped to the USA and produced into the treats we buy. read the recent article about MILO's products. I've been using various MILO products but will not be going forward. I feel like i was scammed, and my dog is paying for it
