This review is from: Milt Jackson (Audio CD)
To begin, it's an absolute shame this cd hasn't been reviewed yet. Another shame is that it hasn't been properly released in the United States yet and we're forced to shell out top-dollar prices for yet another Japanese import. But, truth be told, it is worth every penny you pay for it.
This is by far my favorite era of Milt Jackson. Much of what he released around this time (the Quartet LP, Jazz Skyline, Jackson-Ville, Opus, Opus de Jazz, etc.) are all absolutely stellar. Milt Jackson in the 50's could do no wrong. And let's not forget Bean Bags. Anything with Coleman Hawkins attached to it is equally sublime.
This is such amazing stuff that I don't know if you can properly handle it. Those in the know, I'm sure you can. Those who just stumbled here through some quirky twist of fate, go stick to Cal Tjader records (even though I admit to owning a few). Get this, get this, get this, get this. Pay what you have to, wait as long as it takes, do what you must. You will not be disappointed.
