I love this game! I got it for my sons 7th birthday and we play it all the time. Its great to play on play dates and sleepovers. My three year old even trys to play it! He loves the buzzer. I totally recommend this game!

Some nice upgrades, some not so great,

I like the sturdy drawer that holds the fun new pieces but the sound effects are really annoying. My kids liked playing but most of the time were wishing it would just be quiet! There is a nice feature that allows younger children to play but allowing more mistakes before the buzzer buzzes. If they could just fix the annoying sounds this would be better than the original.

I love operation. I played this game when I was a little girl. I wanted to get this game for my classroom so the children would have some games to play with. The only thing that was wrong with this is it was missing one of the pieces. I was unhappy about this, however, it didn't stop my children from playing with the game and having a great time with it.

Great toy suffers from poor quality,

I had read the bad reviews outlining the quality issues with this toy but my daughter really wanted it. By day 2 the buzzer was working intermittently. During some games it would work fine in the beginning and then, unbeknownst to us, would fail halfway through. We had to jiggle the switch to get it working again and start over. By day 3 it just stopped working.

My 6 year old daughter loves this. I thought she would have a hard time getting the pieces out but she does a great job. I don't remember it being 'easy' for me when I was a kid but maybe she has better coordination than I did or maybe the holes are a little bit bigger? It has a tray that pulls out to store the pieces in and that's a nice feature. All in all, it's easy to understand why this game has been around for so long and is still fun to play.

Broken out of the box,

My kids were very disappointed when the buzzer wouldn't work out of the box. No amount of tweaking, pushing, etc would get the buzzer to work. Everything else worked, sounds etc, so it had to be some issue with the tweezers. This game has obviously gone through a cost-saving redesign - it feels much more flimsy than the original and the new system with sounds is stupid.

Fun game, but did not work!,

Hi,My brother's and I really enjoyed this game as kids. My daughter (6 years old) mopped the whole floor to earn this game. She was so excited. But it did not work. Right out of the box it was broken. The buzzers do not go off when you touch the sides. I see from the reviews that I am not the only to have this happen. Very disappointing.

More flimsy than the original, but gameplay is the same.,

Operation - the game of fine motor control where a steady hand is required to grab the plastic bones without touching the metal sides and setting off the buzzer. It is (and always was) wickedly hard. Those holes look smaller now than ever (although the board's dimensions are unchanged). The built quality is cheaper (the cardboard main board is thinner, the tongs more lightweight), although it's not a significant difference (and I'm using my 30 year old recollections to compare). The real reason I'm docking it two points is that my kids have little patience for this game - to my surprise. I used to play it a lot. Maybe the difference is the amount of television advertising? More likely it's that we didn't have Nintendo, Tivo, and the Internet around when I was a kid. In any case - it's a trip down memory lane and a simple and tactile game for kids.

"Sound FX" means non-stop LOUD,

I picked this up without realizing that they had changed it to having audio prompts instead of cards. Those audio prompts are loud and they keep repeating until you finish that item, then the next one starts up, so there is no break. You can turn them off (but not down), but only in the higher skill mode, which is too hard for kids at the younger end of the spectrum.

I love the game itself, but not this edition. They've attempted to bring it "up-to-date" by replacing the simple buzzer with a sound chip. Bad news is the sounds get really annoying, and the construction is so cheap the tweezers didn't work on the first unit I bought. If you're considering this game, stick with the original (also available through Amazon). |
