3.0 out of 5 stars Good for young kids, small feet.
What I like about this game is there really are no rules. Kids arrange it how they want to, and can make up their own rules. However, the rings are so small my 7 yr. old daughter's shoe won't fit inside the ring without touching both sides. She wears a size one. It's still usable and fun. I just think the picture on the box is misleading, showing lots of room around...

My husband brought this home for our daughter and before we knew it all the kids were playing, clapping, singing and laughing. The were cracking up so much we started laughing with them. It is definately not a quiet game but if laughing and singing is what you want to hear this is perfect! They loved changing the layout and using their imagination to come up with different designs. They all love singing so that part was great and it was hilarious listening to them trying to come up with songs to sing. The rings are very sturdy so they can change it around as many times as they want without hurting it. One of the best parts for me too was that is came with a drawstring net bag that the entire game fits in. It hangs on my daughters closet doorknob, out of the way and ready to play. Would be a great inexpensive, fun, gift. I have already gotten a couple to give as Christmas gifts.

My 7 yr. old wasn't too interested, but my 4 yr. old loved jumping around and being silly without the pressure of game "rules".

We just ordered this for my daughter for her 4th birthday. She LOVES hopscotch and we thought this would be a great indoor alternative during the winter months. This has been nothing short of a hit! The endless design possibilities make this game not only challenging, but boosts creativity. It's a physical activity that also works the brain. The pieces are VERY durable. A couple of my favorite aspects---my 4 year old can play alone or with friends (or mommy and daddy), and the handy mesh bag that comes with makes it easy to clean up and store. Great game! Worth every penny!

1.0 out of 5 stars very disappointing, December 2, 2009

This is a great idea for a toy, but the manufacturers really short changed us. The circles are too small for feet over four years old. The plastic pieces that attach the circle together require a degree in engineering to snap and align. Overall very disappointing.

Bought it for the 5 yr old, who loves the idea of this game. She tried to play with it but quickly grew frustrated. The plastic circles were too small. They often get snagged or pulled out of alignment. After a few hours of trial and error, this ended up in the closet..permanently.

2.0 out of 5 stars Best for 3-4 year olds but pointless for older kids, February 21, 2009

My 6-year-old son and I played this game. The circles are too small for either of our feet and the point of the game (set it up any way, jump in all circles except the one color you spin, and dance or sing or clap when you meet in the middle) was pointless for someone of his age.

This would be perfect for 3-4 year olds b/c their feet would fit, it would develop coordination and color recognition, it would be simple to understand, and there are no winners or losers.

For kids older than that, I think it's pointless. But my 8 year old had fun spinning the rings around on his arms so it wasn't a total loss!

1.0 out of 5 stars Rings are way too small, April 20, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Twister Hopscotch (Toy)
I love the idea of this game -- my kids like to be indoors, and I like for them to be active and creative. However, the game is unusable because the rings are too small for anyone's feet, including my 5-year-old, despite the fact that the game is marked 6 years and up. My 8-year-old considered trying to play without shoes, but landing on the rings (which you're bound to do when your feet don't fit in the rings) is uncomfortable without shoes. The box shows 4- to 5-year-old children whose feet fit easily into the rings, but they're either at the very low end of the foot-size curve, or the photo has been modified.

Wish I could recommend the game, but I can't!

bought this for 4yo for xmas, we live in vermont and always looking for indoor ways to expend energy in the winter. i thought it was for younger kids until i got the product and it says "7 and up". still we've had fun with it and because you configure it yourself we've made it compatible with her jumping abilities. certainly she will continue to grow into this toy as the years pass.

As others have stated, the directions for this are not very good, and they are very vague. I was going to try and play it with my 5 year old, but decided it was pointless. As far as being a creative toy though, I think it is great. We just got it, and my daughter has been jumping back and forth across the circles for 20 minutes now. I even joined her. The circles are small for her feet, but she just tip-toes through it like you do in hopscotch. There are endless possibilities for arranging the circles. Once the novelty wears off, parents may need to supply some creative suggestions for using the circles. In this age of video games, kids (especially mine) need to be encourgaed to engage in this kind of creative play.

2.0 out of 5 stars Horrible instructions..., December 30, 2008

My 7-year-old daughter loves playing hopscotch so I thought she'd really enjoy this but the instructions for this game are HORRIBLE. Kids are supposed to both start on opposite ends & do something like a handshake or something of their choice when they meet in the middle but it says nothing about how they are supposed to get around each other. There are a few variations listed & the kids tried them all but they are all pretty dumb. The kids are not basically making up what they do as they go along. They had fun for 10-15 minutes but that's about it.

I can't recommend this game.
