For me, comparing it to the thing I had when I was 11 (I'm 32 now...) this one is a disappointment.
The brain behind the game is the same, This one has far more option to be honest, but it is much smaller then the original, less durable, The sounds the game make are very screamy and havily synthesized (I guess this is because the modern thin speaker they are using insetad of the original which had radio quality speaker).
The interface was supposed to be more user friendly but the result is that it is very annoying comparing to the original which had simple switchs that were far more simple to operate.
The lens switchs are vary hard to press-My daughter really had to learn how to press hard.
The 2 players game option does add more excitment.
To conclude, the game is worth the money and still is very enjoyable for today kids - but to get ready to be disappointed if you had the classic simon back in the 80's - the game is still the same great game, but time and technology didn't do good in terms of design and construction.

I had this toy (an older version) when I was a kid about 10 years ago. I actually I still have it and it still works. I used to play it all the time. It is basically an advanced memory game. The computer flashes the different color lights in a certain order and then you have to repeat it. If you get it right than it adds another light to the order (ie from a sequence of two to three, from a sequence of three to four etc.). I know it sounds knid of boring but it is addictive. The great thing is that it also helps children advance their thinking and memory skills in a fun way.

We purchased this toy for our 10 year old son and he enjoyed playing with it. However, after just a few hours of play the buttons started sticking or not registering when you pushed them so you couldn't "win" or move up.
We returned the toy and got a new one and the same thing happened with just a few hours of play. We returned it a second time and got our money back. Not a lot of fun if it doesn't work. I would not recommend.
