5.0 out of 5 stars Why Can't Today's Gospel Music Be Like This?, August 27, 2007

This review is from: Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This album features some of their finest work and proves why their success lasted well over 50 years. The late Rev. Milton Brunson did such a blessed job creating some of the best gospel music I've ever heard. Many believe that their finest music came from the '80s, but no matter what the era, they always made incredible gospel music. Even though Chicago has produced many music legends and great choirs, Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers stands out as one of the best blessings to come out of Chicago. Where would gospel music be without them? You haven't heard real gospel until you hear them sing!!! Watch the clips on You Tube, buy the CDs here at Amazon and you'll see why they're the best thing that ever hit gospel music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rev Milton Brunson Doesn't Dissappoint!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I thoroughly enjoy this musical masterpiece of gospel songs. Enjoyed them years ago, and can enjoy them now all put together in one package. When I want to praise the Lord at home, or in my car, I just put this CD in, and usher in His Holy Spirit!

5.0 out of 5 stars NEVER TO BE EQUALED, April 24, 2011

This review is from: Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
The recordings of the "Tommies" represent the very best of all time and will never be equaled. This was an era that was classic in content. It presented gospel music at its peak in popularity in the 1970's and 1980's. The record companies ruined gospel music in the '90's by injecting rap into gospel under the guise of drawing young people to Christ. What it really did was lose a great portion of the mature audience. Rap has no place in gospel music.Rev.Brunson and Walter Hawkins are now gone on to Glory.Gospel music flourished under their guidance. I wonder why God fearing people allowed the recording industry to dictate what kind of music is acceptable to Christians.Record companies also killed rythem and blues by injecting rap. There was a time when the roots of R&B came from the country people of the deep south.....Percy Sledge,Bill Withers,Sam and Dave,Garnett Mims,Ray Charles. There also was a church element that made for a good combination......Aretha Franklin,Whitney Houston, etc. Now all of those roots are essentially cut off and our musical genius has suffered. I don't believe that suddenly there is no more Black talent available. The sweet soul of the music is gone....Rap cannot capture that.

Could it be a conspiracy?Black people without a sound music inspiration are surely not as strong as they were in the inspired 1960's and before.Kill the leaders and kill the source of inspiration.....this sounds like part of a conspired and organized plan.HOLD ON TO YOUR MILTON BRUNSON AND THE THOMPSON COMMUNITY SINGERS CD's.They are more valuable than you think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous!, July 10, 2006
By
This review is from: Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Milton Brunson & The Thompson Community Choir has always been known for putting out songs that would keep churches, choirs & Christians singing for times to come. The timeless message and the unmistakable pure and unique sound of gospel music that the modern church has gotten away from is captured and preserved in the many blessed renditions on this CD & others. On each song, the lead singers are over the top. They usher the listener into the presence of God and extend a standing invitation to everyone with ears to hear to worship with them, as the choir reiterates and resonates the blessed theme. How refreshing, what a blessing!
