I am an electrician and I can't say enough good things about this bandsaw. It is light enough to cut with on hand and can flush cut against the wall. I went back and forth before purchasing between this (at the time I had never used one) and the Stout bandsaw (which I've used often). Milwaukee put the Stout to shame. Battery life is way longer, can go a couple days of roughing on one battery.(so far). Also has a light so its easy to see your cut lines. And the flush cut option, well the first time you need to use it, you'll be glad you have this saw. My only complaint is the price. At $400.00, its expensive. I got mine for $360 on amazon with free shipping so you gotta watch for the deals. Most retails stores by my house were in the $400's as well. Make sure to order some blades, if you're gonna cut conduit. The factory one isn't made for that. But again seek out a deal...3 for $20.

What a great tool! The trigger is going out on my Milwaukee sawzall, and I dislike the design of their new sawzall, so I picked up this bandsaw. I am an electrician, and so far, I have used it cutting EMT, uni-strut, and all-thread. It is small and light enough for easy use on the jobsite, and makes clean cuts every time. I get compliments on it from everyone I see.

The idea for the compact 18v Bandsaw is terrific. I have been a long time user of Milwaukee tools and have almost every 18v cordless tool they have to offer. I use them everyday on my jobs. The batteries for these tools have lasted just as they advertised, but I am very disappointed in the performance of the Band saw. The Band saw worked great for a few weeks and then the blade began to drop off. It has gotten so bad now that i can't even use the tool. I wish that Milwaukee would come up with a fix.

Our company ordered three of these portabands and they all worked great for the first two weeks, and then the blades would start dropping off whenever you wanted to cut something. The nylon bearing on the front wheel wears out with the result that the wheel cants down during operation, allowing the blade to work its way off. A simple fix would be for Milwaukee to adopt the wheel leveling screw that DeWalt uses on their larger corded portabands. This would put pressure on the front wheel's free side, keeping the wheel level and keeping the blade from dropping off.

Used my buddies today on the job, very straight cuts with minimal effort as it has a smaller width and blade doesnt roll like it does on the bigger models some times (could be operator error lol). Seems well built as far as battery operated tools go. Very fast at cutting emt/strut/threaded rod. I cant comment on the longevity. Now to order my own

It's awesome, just read the other 5 star reviews. I'm posting about the 1 star reviews. A coworker of mine had that same problem with the blade walking off and there was an easy fix. He had to bring it in and they had some part (I didn't see it) and now it works fine and the blade doesn't come off.

I would use the Milwaukee cutoff grinder to cut 1/2in EMT pipe. I invested in the Milwaukee 18v line and when this came out I kept my eye on it. Finally broke down and got it a few weeks ago. The days of using the grinder or hacksaw are over. This thing is amazing how quickly it cuts EMT. I showed it to co workers and during the demo people on the street saw how cool it looked and wanted a demo. The reaction is the same every time I show someone what this thing is capable of. "WOW"!! It would take me 10 seconds and a lot of energy to hacksaw EMT, took me 8 seconds to cut with the grinder with little energy, with this bandsaw it takes me 1 second to cut pipe with no energy. No exaggeration. Some guys are complaining the blade slips off. When I got the tool on the instruction manual it said to use Milwaukee 48-39-0528 Compact Band Saw Blade 35-3/8-Inch 18TPI. This is the size you need and you won't have a problem. Just got a couple red lithium batteries for my set and those batteries definitely give more torque to the tools. This tool works.
