Jump Start Your Battery,
This review is from: Milwaukee 48-11-1024 14.4-Volt 2.4 Amp Hour NiCad Slide Style Battery (Tools & Home Improvement)
I thought one of my batteries was dead. I had not used the drill in about 3 months. Before buying a replacement, I sent an email to Milwaukee to see if there was a fix. The answer was YES. These batteries, like many others, will continue to drain especially if attached to the drill. Just like with a car, you can jump start the batteries. Send an email to Milwaukee customer service and they will email you the jump start instructions including a diagram. I got a reply in less than 24 hours and it was FREE.

14.4 volt battery Milwaukee,

I have had three of these batteries fail in only two years of very light use. Probably less than 40 hrs. of total use between the three batteries. The tool is great, but the batteries are poor.

I was on here and just about ready to purchase this, I read the review about jumping the batteries, and sure enough it worked. Great advice. Just send an email to the Milwaukee tool expert and you can regain yours...

I've had my Milwaukee 14.4 drill since '03 and finally both of the batteries died. I saw the advice from others about jump starting them, so I checked out the Milwaukee website, only to discover that 14.4 & 18 Volt NiCad batteries manufactured between 1999 and 2004 are being recalled and replaced for free due to an explosion risk. They say batteries manufactured after 2004 are safe. So if you are like me, check out the website and get some new batteries!

I tried to take care of the batteries for two years, by not leaving them in the charger for more than it took to charge them up, just charging them up when I used them, not over-discharging them. But they both stopped holding a charge after less than two years. When they're new the drill works great.

Nearly bought a new lithium ion drill-driver/flashlight kit but saved about $180 to rejuvinate what I thought was a hopeless situation. 10 year old Milwaukee 3/8" drill-driver works as well as when new...even better with the 2.4 Amp battery. Originals died because I let run on flashlight until dead thinking I was 'exersising' it for longevity...but learning too late that method will ruin the battery. I have used occasionaly for 11 years, and hated to part with excellently performing drill and good flashlight. I purchase this battery as a last resort; charges on the original charger and seems to last 4x longer than the original battery (1.8 Ah). Pricey but worth it!

This is a great price on this battery! I use a 14.4 volt battery in my milwaukee caulking gun for work. I use it every day and it works great. The original batteries lasted about four years. The supplier at work wanted $95.00 for the same battery, Amazon was less than half that price plus free shipping. Love that Amazon!!!!

I have had 3 of these batteries die in less than two years of moderate (weekly, not daily) use on my cordless drill. Two were replaced under warantee. I think it will be cheaper to buy a new Dewalt drill with batteries than to replace the batteries.

My old battery would not hold a charge but a new battery is expensive. This one provided me with the right combination of affordability and power. My drill rejoices.
