Hands down this is the best utility knife I have ever owned or used.

The slide switch for the blade is on the left side, and seems to work well for either a right-handed or left-handed person.

It has a "tool-less" blade changing feature, easy storage of new blades in the handle, and a wire stripper feature.

This Milwaukee utility knife is well built and has a few innovative features. It has a "tool-less" blade changing feature, easy storage of new blades in the handle, and a wire stripper feature. The tool-less blade changing feature was very nice. Push one small rubber button on the side near the blade tip and you can pull the blade out without having to use a screwdriver. I inserted a hook utility blade and it went in and locked as it should. This feature is a winner. Blade storage in the handle is also a nice feature. Pull the black rubber hand grip and the blade storage compartment swings opens. A magnet keeps the blades from falling out when you open the handle. The wire stripper function just didn't cut it for me, no pun intended. I tried stripping some individual wire inside a 12-3 romex wire that I had for lighting, and it was pretty useless. Overall this utility knife has a quality feel and comfortable grip. The side-slide locks the blade in 4 different settings. But don't plan on hanging it on your peg-board in your garage. And the package indicates that there is a limited lifetime warranty. Speaking of the packaging, it is pretty tough so you'll need a sharp knife or good pair of scissors to open the package.

The only other issue that I would mention is that I went to the Milwaukee web site to look for more information on this utility knife. Doing a search for "utility knife" I was able to find a link for this utility knife, but when I clicked on the link I received a "Bad request" error.

Hands down this is the best utility knife I have ever owned or used. I have used the expensive Lenox knifes and this is far beyond competition.

I LOVE the blade storage. So easy to access, but I have not it accidentally open. The blades are held in with a magnet so they don't fall out when you open the compartment. The magnet is strong enough to hold the knife to a chunk of steel. Really nice feature for me.

Can't say enough good about it. Thanks Milwaukee!!!!!

As an amazon prime member, I have a ton of boxes coming to my house. Every two weeks I'm down in the garage cutting them down for recycling. For this task, prior to the Milwaukee, I had been using a SOG pocket knife and an Olfa cutter for five years or so. This Milwaukee utility knife dominates these two other options substantially - it's awesome for this type of recycle-the-boxes task. The main problem with these two knives is retracting their blades between uses: I grab a box, cut the packaging tape, render-knife-safe, fold the cut down box, stack the cut down box with other cut down boxes. Rendering these other knives safe is a pain. With the SOG, it takes two hands to close. The Olfa - you have to figure out how many clicks to retract and then to extend between uses. The Milwaukee is fast to retract and fast to open. It has a couple dents that allow you to show 1/4, 1/2 the blade, etc. which are very tactile (you don't have to be looking at the knife to know that it is safely retracted). The 1/4 extension is also great for cutting boxes on the floor - you know that the blade will penetrate one layer of a box, but not penetrate to the floor and dull itself. Finally it feels great in your hand: substantial and non-slip. A winner for recycling boxes. Amazon Prime Member? Get one.

I have destroyed quite of few utility knives, so I've learned that they arent all made the same. This one definately falls into the 'well made' catagory. Solid construction, the two halves lock together nicely so it wont split apart with heavy use like some of the cheaper models. The wire stripper is a nice addition as well. The side open feature is great, eliminates one of my biggest pet-peeves with utility knives in that when you get a high grip for a job that requires force, it is easy to accidentally hit the button on top and release the blade lock. This side open feature has eliminated that problem for me. The rubberized grip is nice, especially in cold or wet working conditions. The 'no tool' blade change is also a great feature. I cant say how many times I've used a dull blade just because I didnt want to stop my task to get a screwdriver so I can change the blade. Being able to do a blade change 'on the fly' is a huge benefit.

As utility knives go, this is among the best. While I'd say there is no 'best' one, there are some definite bad ones. Dont try and save yourself the $5 and buy a cheaper one, this one will get the job done and last for the next jobs as well. Well worth the slight additional cost over the cheap models.

My true test of value on a product... If I lost it (and I surely will) I would buy another one.

Up to this point in time, I've owned an old utility knife that was my father's - it's made of metal and you have to unscrew screws to open it up to change the blade - and a plastic box cutter that got wet and now has rusted snap blades. I usually wind up just using a pair of scissors or a kitchen knife when I have to cut something open or score anything.

This is a really nice utility knife, really nice. It's got a rubberized coating which makes is both comfortable to grip and non-slippery. It's sized so that it fits well in my hand, with curves and grips in the right spots. The blades are easy to replace - no need to unscrew anything - lol. The slide switch for the blade is on the left side, and seems to work well for either a right-handed or left-handed person. It's a bit weighty (especially compared to my plastic box cutter) but the weight is distributed well and I think would actually be useful when used to score something because there would be less chance of wavering. I've used it to open boxes and cut through plastic packaging with ease.

The utility knife also can function as a wire stripper, and the packaging says that it can strip up to 12-gauge wire, not the 10-gauge mentioned in the Amazon description. There's a notch on the underside that exposes a portion of the blade that allows you to strip wire. The notch is recessed deep enough that there's no chance of accidentally cutting your finger. Also on the underside there is a storage compartment that flips open to store up to five new blades. There is a magnet in the slot provided for the blades that holds them tight when the compartment is open, yet they are easy to remove. The storage compartment opens smoothly and clicks shut.
