This review is from: Milwaukee 48-55-0719 Carrying Case for V28 Sawzall Reciprocating Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
Unlike a previous reviewer - this review is about the product purchased - not whether or not Milwaukee should have provided a hard case with the V28 4 piece cordless tool kit.
The case is high quality and is fairly priced. It has storage for the saw itself, batteries, and a storage compartment for blades. I would highly recommend this case to anyone with the V28 or V18 Sawzall.

Fits Sawzall, Charger, and Batteries Nicely, but Nothing Else,

Every day I haul my V28 Sawzall to work in this plastic case. I love the saw, but I hate this case. It offers a small compartment for storing extra blades, but I normally keep the larger 12" blades with me, so there's about enough room for only a few blades. Worst of all, the compartment keeps popping open when I open the case, spilling the blades anywhere. You can try to squeeze in some blades in the main compartment with the saw, but it's a tight fit. I go through blades quite quickly, so I have to keep my extras separate. Pointless, if you ask me.
I miss the old metal cases that Milwaukee use to have... held more blades and accessories then you'd ever need, and it was SMALLER. Unfortunately, the old metal cases don't have room for the charger. One note about the case... the description mentions that it has 'room for two batteries, charger, and blade storage'. Actually, it has room for three batteries... one attacted to the tool, and two extras. This is the one feature I like about it.

I recently got the 4-tool V28 kit and was sorely disappointed by the bag. So I've ordered 3 hard cases, and this was the first to arrive. The case is light and sturdy, with a comfortable handle. Everything fits nicely, with room for some extra odds and ends. The compartment for blades easily holds a set of 9-inch pruning blades plus several smaller blades, but I do wish that there were separate compartments to sort different types of blades into. The door to the blade compartment requires some effort to open and close--I don't see how it coud come open accidentally unless the case were defective.

This is a great case even though it says its for a V28.I bought it for a V18 saw and batteries and charger works fine just like it was made for it.

This case keeps the V28 Sawzall, batteries, charger, and some blades safe during transport and on the job site.
I've used the older Sawzalls with the metal cases, and while those are arguably more bombproof, there are a few advantages to the lighter weight plastic: 1) It is lighter weight. This may make the difference at the end of a long day when you're lugging stuff back to the truck. 2) It's much better in wet situations. I had an HVAC guy leave their metal-cased Sawzall on my back deck, exposed to rain and snow. I discovered it a few days later, and, even in that short time, it wasn't pretty. 3) It's a lot gentler on the powder coat of the compartments on my truck. |
