5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, March 30, 2001

This review is from: Milwaukee 48-89-0050 29-Piece 1/16-Inch to 1/2-Inch Cobalt Twist Drill Bit Assortment in Metal Index (Tools & Home Improvement)
These are what drill bits should be, they are straight and sharp. I was using my drill press when tired them. First on wood, they started where I wanted, no skipping, cut clean, both entry and exit, true, with out deflection, and with such ease from the smallest to the largest in softwood or hardwood. This wasn't love but it was a thrill I was totally satisfied right then but I had to try metal. The same results I don't work with Stainless or Titanium. These bits are a real pleasure. These are the most expensive set of Drill Bits that I have ever purchased I'm sorry I spent so much money on cheaper bits.

I know what you're thinking, "THAT'S $6.00 A BIT!" Well yes it is, and it's worth every penny. I thought the same thing, but after a very frustrating experience trying to drill cast iron with lesser bits, I decided it was time to try something better. My wife bought me this set as a gift about 2 years ago and I love them. I abuse these bits and they take it with a smile. I'm one of those guys that's too lazy to get the out the cutting fliud when a I only have a couple holes to drill. I regularly drill steel angle without lubricant and my bits are none the worse for wear. I did manage to dull one drilling too fast in a stone tile. Thinking, "maybe all cobalt bits are this good," I bought a Steel-X cobalt replacement. I ended up throwing the brand new Steel-X in the trash - the dull Milwaukee was still better. If I ever manage to wear these things out, I fully intend to replace them with the same set. If you're suspicious or don't need the larger bits, then try the 13 peice set. You won't regret it.

Good drill bits are getting harder and harder to find! These are the fastest and smoothest bits I've found for drilling metal hands down.

This is not your above average drill set this is the absolute best you can buy, quality, no cut down shanks and in use drills through materials with ease and precision. I was a machinist for 42 years and I know a good drill when I see and use one. The best you can buy-Nuff Said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drill bits proudly made in the U.S.A., May 7, 2007

You get what you pay for and sometimes the sweetness of low priced tools can ruin your project! After investigating what was out there for drill bits, these made in USA cobalt Milwaukee bits are the best I have ever owned. As a former tool and die maker, I am critical of tools used in my home. Sometimes you can't find an American made product. When you do, get the made in USA model. It may cost more but at least you won't have to buy the inferior model only to replace it with the good stuff! Like others that reviewed this drill set, I highly recommend them too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing drill bits, February 2, 2006
This review is from: Milwaukee 48-89-0050 29-Piece 1/16-Inch to 1/2-Inch Cobalt Twist Drill Bit Assortment in Metal Index (Tools & Home Improvement)
If you want good, really really good, drill bits - GET THESE! The differance between these and cheap ones is unbelievable. Worth every penny. Accurately sized, finely machined, SHARP, properly ground angle, and somewhat larger sized index case with size markings that are easy to read. I first used these to drill some holes in metal for tapping. Granted I was using a drill press but I hardly felt any resistance at all in the handle. A perfect clean hole.

This review is from: Milwaukee 48-89-0050 29-Piece 1/16-Inch to 1/2-Inch Cobalt Twist Drill Bit Assortment in Metal Index (Tools & Home Improvement)
These bits are very good and well worth the cost. I searched around before getting these off of Amazon and Amazon was by far the cheapest place to buy these. The bits are great as they're very sharp and do not slip off of the item when drilling such things as dowel rods and metal. GREAT PRODUCT!

Its worth the money, these bits will outlast, stay sharp and the no drift will beat anything out there, unless you really want to fork out more for industrial diamond. These bits should last a lifetime for the home owner and great for shop duty
