Only Adequate -- And Overpriced,

This review is from: Milwaukee 49-17-3300 Heavy-Duty Folding Ear Muffs (Tools & Home Improvement)
First, there's nothing -- zero -- "Milwaukee" about these except the external retail repackaging. These are just Mexican-made "Howard Leight Hearing Protection" product.
These are typical sub-$10 units, though they do a decent job of actually blocking sound and are reasonably comfortable for me. The quality is poor, however. The crude headband length adjustment goes from much too tight to much too loose very quickly and the cheap plastic of the earpads quickly starts to degrade and harden after exposure to body oils. The pads are glued to the cups and this glue also begins to lose its grip very soon in prolonged use. I have hyperacusis and wear hearing protectors for many hours at a time every day. These simply do not hold up. If you only use hearing protectors occasionally and for very brief periods, these may be entirely adequate for your purposes, but they are in no way professional grade units for daily extended use in noisy environments.

Excellent Ear Muffs,
By Jeff Shultz "Shultzy" (Wayzata, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Milwaukee 49-17-3300 Heavy-Duty Folding Ear Muffs (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had these muffs for over a year and use them for every kind of noise environment. Whether a loud table saw, lawn implement, screaming router or other power tool is the reason you need muffs, this pair offers a very high degree of noise reduction. They are light weight, comfortable to wear for an extended time and come with a handy belt loop holder. Your hearing is valuable. This pair of muffs will protect it.

I got these earmuffs to replace a pair of Remington shooters earmuffs that I was using for my woodworking. The Remington muffs had broken and I needed a new pair.
Pros: Pretty lightweight Cheap Fairly comfortable Lightweight Cons: The ear peices for safety glasses seem to interfear with the seal on the milwakees Even without glasses the hearing protection isnt as good The area for your ears is a bit small. I have very large ears and these earmuffs feel a bit tight. There is no padding on the headband part Overall: I would probably buy these again. For this price they do an excellent job.

Not nearly as good as the Peltor H10A muffs,

These Milwaukee muffs are cheap things. I bought a pair about a year ago, but they turned brittle and were never very comfortable. I also found they aren't very good - they are okay. I didn't expect a lot for the price, but a few months ago I purchased a pair of Peltor H10A muffs for just about $10.00 more, and boy were they worth it! They're much better made, better looking, more comfortable, and reduce noise levels more. Now I really regret the time I spent with Milwaukee muffs. They're just not worth it.

These block noise well but they have a lot of clamping pressure and get uncomfortable after five minutes.
A foam pad fell off easily. They should have a bag to keep them clean. Good to hang near saw or cutting station.

Serve their purpose, fit snuggly and very low key.
Only drawback I could think of is they can't be adjusted but I think that's actually a good thing. Who wants their ear protection unadjusting themselves when you move around a lot? They fit perfectly and stay put.

Great protection for the price (though not very comfy),

I bought these along with a $20 pair of Radians Terminators (also from amazon). The radians supposedly have a NRR of 29, but these Milwaukee muffs seem to seal a lot tighter on my head.
The Milwaukee Muffs are not nearly as comfortable. The headband could become uncomfortable if you were wearing them for more than 15 minutes straight, but for the price I expected much worse. I would recommend these over the more expensive Radians model if you are looking to use them for something like shooting where you will be wearing them intermittently. I would also strongly recommend them as a spare pair.

Bought 4 pair total so far. Gave the first 2 away to people who needed them. They're so cheap you can do so without feeling bad. They do what they're supposed to do. No more, no less. They do fold up nicely though. You won't have these for years but at just under six bucks, you can afford to replace them every year. I didn't have to adjust the headband since they were a perfect fit for me out of the box.

We own two of these and are very happy with them. We use them regularly to mow our 3.5 acres. They are comfortable, attenuate noise well, and have held up nicely for over two years now. It's the only hearing protector my wife will use.

Still using them 2 years later. I don't use them frequently, but they work and they have not broke yet.
