This review is from: Milwaukee 49-17-3500 20-Piece Box NIOSH N95 Class Particulate Respirator (Tools & Home Improvement)
The green bendy flexible metal strip that is supposed to mould around your nose is very, very stiff and difficult to bend. This means that it is almost impossible to get a good seal around the nose, and air tends to seep around the edges of the mask near your nose when exhaling. This can fog up safety goggles. When inhaling, sometimes unfiltered air comes around the edges of the mask.
If you can manage to get a good seal, it seems to filter quite well. We prefer the 3M brand N95 masks instead.

These are much more effective for woodworking than cheap masks. Not only are they much better at filtering dust (especially from MDF), they actually seem to provide better airflow. They fit comfortably under goggles. An excellent value compared to the cough and headache a day of routing MDF would leave me with with lesser respirators.

I bought these because I was looking for something NIOSH certified since all the sawdust was starting to get to me, and the real cheapy masks weren't cutting it. These do a much better job of blocking the dust, and are more comfortable than them to boot. I sometimes have a problem with fogging up my safety glasses with dust masks, but with these, if I bend the green bit above the nose so it fits, I do not have that problem.

This respirator, while originally bought for the Swine Flu, has served me well as an allergy mask while working on lawn maintenance. My previous dust/allergy masks were ineffective. Hopefully, I won't yet have to test these on the Swine Flu.

I bought it in case the swine flu took off in my area.
CDC rated against viruses and was a muc lower price than on-line drugstores. |
