I was looking for quik-lok bits to use with my new cordless drill. Most spade bits have very long shafts which make accurate drilling harder. These short shafts are great and the sides of the hole drilled are smooth. Don't forget to use a backer board to minimize tear out when drilling.

I am usually drilling to run cables, and these are just long enough to go through a 2x4 or other "2 by" lumber, which is usually what most people are making a hole in when they are in a tight space. It's hard to find a lot to say about drill bits, but I am very satisfied with these. I use them in conjunction with the Milescraft 90 degree tools which I also bought. They are straight and true and seem to be made of good quality steel, Milwaukee is known for quality tools and these are as good as any other spade bits I've gotten, only shorter.
The case they come in is well thought out and worthy of mention as a piece of "tool art" in it's own right. It's a little wider than it looks in the pictures on Amazon. The extra pocket is a perfect place to store the Milescraft stubby bit sets I bought at the same time. It keeps the extension handy so you can lengthen the bits without searching around in the bottom of your tool bag for the extension. The little clip lets you hook them on something handy where you are working so you aren't trying to juggle them around along with the drill while on a ladder or something. Clearly designed by someone who uses tools for a living.

I bought this set because I could often use the short length bits. However, the Quik-Lok holder extends it to a more normal length as well, so it makes it a versatile and compact set to use for almost all purposes. I'm not sure who manufactures it, but I've always found that if Milwaukee puts their name on it, it's bound to be high quality. This set is no exception.

These seem to be good bits, drill a nice smooth hole. The included extender will hold double ended driving bits, a nice bonus.
