The Milwaukee 4970-24 Generator features a Honda Commercial GX Engine. This engine gives the user Jobsite 'Proven' Design, OHV (Overhead Valve) Design, a cast iron cylinder sleeve, automatic decompression release, an electronic ignition system as well as a Low Oil Alert system. The muffler is a glass-packed, 4-chamber design. The muffler also features a USDA-approved spark arrestor along with dBA levels ? Honda equivalents. Milwaukee Alternator Features Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to ensure a reliable, constant Voltage output regardless of load; protecting sensitive equipment. The Milwaukee 4970-24 Generator features a unique alternator design that delivers, Full-Time, Max Power Output, (120-Volt and/or 240v) without manual Voltage selection. This eliminates the risk of equipment or generator damage when different Voltage equipment is used. Smooth brass slip rings and low, constant (3600 rpm) current require fe with no brush changes over life of generator. The Milwaukee 4970-24 Generator control panel features: Most-In-Class receptacles, which enhances generator versatility (more tools, more Voltages). UL-approved (UL 489) Branch circuit breakers provide reliable AC circuit protection, reducing equipment and/or generator damage risk. Dedicated (1 per receptacle) breaker configuration ensures only overloaded outlet is down rather than the whole panel shutting down. Automatic Engine Idle Control reduces fuel consumption and noise during no-load times. The Milwaukee 4970-24 Generator can handle the elements by featuring 100-Percent sealed control panel switches, UV-resistant rain 'curtain' that protects receptacles from rain. Also, the stainless steel control panel and fasteners resist impact damage and corrosion. The recessed control panel with steel cross-bar support reduces risk of component damage.

Milwaukee's heavy-duty 4970-24 gas-powered generator is designed to deliver reliable power, maximum durability, and unmatched performance to the jobsite. Powered by a legendary Honda GX OHV (390cc) commercial grade engine with overhead valve, electronic ignition and low oil alert system, the 4970-24 delivers 7,000 watts (maximum AC output) of reliable power. For optimal tool starting and voltage regulation, the 4970-24 is equipped with a premium brushed alternator with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) and a full-time, max power feature which automatically delivers maximum power to all outlets (120v duplex and/or 240v Twist-Locking). This exclusive, hassle-free feature eliminates the risk of costly equipment or generator damage when the correct voltage is not selected by the user, a necessity on many competing generators. The control panel of the 4970-24 features an optimal mix of seven 120v and/or 240v duplex and Twist-Locking power receptacles, providing more power solutions for more tools. For complete personal protection, the entire generator is protected by a central ground fault circuit interrupter system, unlike other competitors with G.F.C.I. protection only on the 120v duplex outlets. Each circuit is also protected by a dedicated, UL-approved (UL489) branch-rated circuit breaker to ensure consistent, reliable power cut-off independent of other circuits during overload situations.

My dad bought this unit during Hurricane Ike. It powered virtually everything he needed, refrigerators, driers, dishwashers, microwaves, lights, fans, et cetera. He shared power with his neighbors as well. Now, he couldn't run everything all at once, but he could run even larger items on there own.

He ran the thing for 2 weeks+, 24hours a day, with very few breaks!!! Nough said. Not many other generators could have operated in the above type of environment.
