The hammer drill features a reversible battery--unique to Milwaukee drills and one that comes in handy in tight spots. The tool's balance feels good with the battery attached either way, although, oddly enough, we liked the reverse battery configuration a little better than the normal configuration. One possible drawback to the reversible battery is that the contacts for the unused configuration are exposed, and may attract dirt if the tool is dropped in the mud or on the floor of a messy job site. The need to occasionally clean contacts struck us as a small price to pay for the added versatility the reversible battery system affords. The hammer drill has 21 clutch positions, and lets you choose between drill-only mode and hammer-only mode. The full combo kit comes with a case that has enough room for everything, including the saw, hammer drill, charger, extra blades, and the saw's rip fence. There's even a space left over for Milwaukee's 18-volt flashlight (sold separately). All in all, this is a great deal on some heavy-duty tools. --Brian Trinen

Milwaukee 6310-24 18-Volt Combo kit...,
By
This review is from: Milwaukee 6310-24 18 Volt 6-1/2-Inch Circular Saw and 1/2-Inch T-Handle Hammer-Drill Combo Kit with Two Batteries, Charger, and Case (Tools & Home Improvement)
I don't have a lot to say but WOW... When I got my Combo kit home and charged it up I took it out to try, I was amazed at the power precision and quality that was incorporated in this fine kit. I use to be a Craftsman man but got tired of there stuff craping out after a short time and leaving me hang' in... I would recommend this to all that has serious and hard work to be done... If this isn't you, then go buy the other guys brand that can be treated like a toy. This is my 8th Milwaukee tool... I'm a firm believer. You won't go wrong...

I am a homeowner and hobby woodworker. I purchased this set of cordless tools after using a friend's DeWalt set. Milwaukee sends DeWalt to the back of the line in quality, ruggedness, power, you name the category. You want to see a friend cringe with envy, pull this set out while he is using his DeWalt. I chose this set from shopping in the local stores and using Amazon's reviews. Thanks everyone who posted five stars, you all were right. This is one of my first reviews on anything, I usually don't take the time, but I just had to tell the world about this set of Milwaukee tools. Simply, these tools ROCK!

Milwaukee 18v vs. Dewalt 18v,

I've owned both combo's, although my Dewalt did not include the new 3 speed XRP drill. This is my assessment: The saw is without a doubt the finest 18volt cordless saw on the market right now. It has near perfect balance and is very comfortable to operate. Dewalts saw is long and awkward in comparison. The drill is a tougher argument for Milwaukee's superiority over Dewalt. While the jury seems to still be out on the new XRP drill Dewalt has introduced, it looks nice and the numbers are convincing. Still you cannot deny that Milwaukee builds a tougher drill. On the jobsite, if you drop a drill, you gasp a little deeper if its a Dewalt because the battery snaps in place with a weak hold for brute force. Milwaukee's reverse slide rail design for the battery pack is very difficult if not impossible to break. Weight is a non-issue. They are both big, heavy drills, with Milwaukee slightly heavier. Dewalt utilizes space in their cases better than Milwaukee, producing smaller, more compact cases. This combo comes with a big case. I would be more inclined to buy this with the contractor bag option. Dewalt vs. Milwaukee: its a close call but Milwaukee has my vote. The saw is superior and the drill, while maybe not as versatile, is extremely tough.
