An amazing tool! Really cuts through steel like magic..,
This review is from: Milwaukee 6370-21 13 Amp 8-Inch Metal Cutting Circular Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am a metal worker by hobbie.
I needed to cut several squares out of 1/4 plate steel. I was looking at having them sheared by the steel company for $20 cutting charge per square... That was going to get very expensive... I decided to buy jigsaw blades ($12 worth) to attack the job myself. I set up a guide and cut them... Went through the 8 blades for 2 squares. It took at least an hour to make the cuts. I realized that the jigsaw method was a false economy. I sprang for the Milwaukee 6370-21 circular metal saw kit. No lie... I cut the same squares out in 5 minutes! The saw seriously ripped through the metal. It did a better/cleaner cut than the jigsaw. I give the saw a 5 rating right now. I can't address any cons because I have only had it a few days. It worked fantastically for my purposes in the short term, with no signs of future problems. I can now begin to incorporate more plate steel into my work without concern as to my ability to cut it to size. That's a big savings at the steel yard. Always a requirement of a tool purchase to me is how quickly it will pay for itself in productivity. I am confident that this tool will do that quickly. Obviously you have to judge any tool by your usage needs. If you are looking to accurately mitre a lot of steel cuts, you might want to get a cold cut mitre chop saw with the same blade technology as this saw... Any portable hand held saw has it's accuracy liablities, you have to choose the right tool for the job at hand....Good luck

I do metal work for a hobby and a sideline. Getting true, square consistent cuts has always been tedious and difficult. No longer, this is the best metal cutting device I have ever tried and I have tried them all. Blade lasts much longer than you would expect and if you set things up properly you will get a perfect cut every time. Well worth the money. My wife thinks I have every tool known to man. I think this is the best one I have. Highly recommended.

I wasn't expecting alot out of this saw as I didn't expect to be able to cut metal well at all with a hand held saw. I was wrong, It is of the quality made famous by Milwaukee and will be used regulary. The orignal blade that comes on this unit is not worth squat. I almost looked into returning the saw until I took a chance and put on a Morse blade. Made the saw work properly and cut smooth and true. I recomend it.

Outstanding Saw,

The saw is an outstanding piece of equipment. The usual high quality milwaukee is known for. If you are cutting 1/4 of below it will go all day. With thicker metal (above 1/4 inch) you need to follow the directions not to push the saw beyond its limits. It will cut up to 3/4 of an inch if used correctly. definately an asset to your tool arsenal. Keep in mind as with all tools stay within the tools proper uses & you will be very satisfied.

This saw does with metal like a circular saw with plywood. It blew me away with its cutting ability. From steel to aluminum, you can set your plasma cutter in storage.

This is the most amazing saw I have ever used, so far we have cut up to 3/4" plate and it doesn't feel or cut any different than if it were plywood. Your cut is smooth and only has a few burrs on the edge that come off with a light swipe with a knife or file. if you use a straight edge the cut almost as good as machined. This is the best tool I have ever used for metalworking and is a MUST HAVE for home use or even a small shop that does not have a shear. You almost have to use it yourself to believe it. I am sure the blade has a lot to do with it and I cannot comment on its life yet but it is worth every dollar compared to the cost of other methods. We will never use the Plasma cutter or thin cut off wheel again for cutting our small pcs to size for fabrication. HIGHLY recommended!

best metal saw on the market
it will cut 1 inch metal without any trouble, if you use it the right way, on thin metal you have to feed it real slow are you will knock the teeth off

Paid for itself on the first project. Zipped through solid 1/2" aluminum sheet material like it was plywood and was fairly quiet for what it does. Very impressive!!!

Wow. A fantastic saw at any price, and at this price a great deal. I had put off for years removing a steel, 3-story, wrap around fire escape from my house because I couldn't get any removal estimates under $2,000 and I couldn't get my head around exactly how I would bring the thing down myself. Among other logistics of one person removing a commercial fire escape, I was put off by the prospect of learning how to use an acetylene torch to make at least dozens of cuts, some of which while hanging off a ladder or a roof 30 feet in the air. So I finally put some research into this and came up with this saw. Over the last two weekends I took down most of the fire escape -- this saw cuts 1/4 inch steel like my circular saw cuts wood. As other reviews note, just go at a steady pace to let the blade do the work. It didn't solve the geometry and physics challenges involved in not killing myself, but it sure made the project possible, and the depth of cut available from the 8 inch blade made all the difference in getting around some awkward places. I've gone though 3 blades so far, which should tell you the work out I've given the saw already (and the blades actually last quite a while, considering they're shredding through metal without hesitation). It's a little heavy, but what do you expect from a work horse? It's pretty well balanced, easy to use, and you can cut one-handed if you're so inclined. Just bear in the mind how hard a power saw could kick if the blade binds or hits a hard spot. I chipped a couple of teeth (on the blade, not mine) here and there, but the blades held up really well. When they get dull it's a quick transition from cutting nicely to grinding and going nowhere. Blade changes involve several steps but it's an easy process with the included Allen wrench that stores on the body of the saw. The chip catcher does pick up a lot of the debris, but expect your work area to still be littered with plenty of chips. So now I've got probably well over 1,000 pounds of steel chopped up into manageable pieces waiting for salvage, thanks to this great saw.
