5.0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 6519-22, October 4, 2004

This review is from: Milwaukee 6519-22 Sawzall 11 Amp Reciprocating Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have recently bought this item. It has sound construction and performs great. It is one of the more expensive sawzalls on the market but it is definitely worth the money. It is much more durable than its little brother the 6509 and is great for shop or home use (I use it for both). If you are looking for a home use, couple of times a year tool go with the 6509 but if you need something that will stand up to the pounding and wear of use then this is a great tool. I have never used the 11Amp series so I cannot compare. However to previous years there is a big difference. The included blades work well too. The quick loc cord I haven't found as a positive or negative, but it does work well.

Brian

The tool feels solid in my hands and has power to spare. I had to remove bathroom floorboards that were built up in plywood layers to almost 1 1/2 inches with tile on top of that, and the tool never ever showed signs of strain or effort. The twist lock blade holder allows blade changes in about 5 seconds-wow. My only suggestion would be that the foot extend further out to limit cutting depth more. Otherwise this tool is tough!

I bought this tool from Amazon several months ago after doing considerable research on this type of saw. I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase. I don't use the saw often, but when I do, I'm always amazed at how powerful it is and how solid it feels. It has very little vibration, and the blades are VERY easy to change. I also like how the cord comes off for easy storage. As with all my other tools, I got the case that goes with it. MUCH easier to take care of your tools that way. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this saw to anyone. It's well worth the price. I've used cheaper recip saws, and they don't come close to the Milwaukee.

I can't fault the cutting action of this saw - it goes through 2x4s like butter and even sheet metal is no problem (though the noise is like standing next to a jet airplane). 5 out of 5 for that.

I only give it 4 stars because after only a month of weekend use, the shoe jammed in the case and won't come out. It's supposed to be locked in place by a lever on the case housing, but even with that wide open the damn thing won't budge. This is a big deal when you want shallow cuts because you need to adjust the shoe to minimize blade flex and vibration. If milwaukee game me a way to disassemble the locking mechanism to free up the shoe I wouldn't worry about it but as you might expect its all sealed up. Grrr.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never met a surface it couldn't cut, November 30, 2008
This review is from: Milwaukee 6519-22 Sawzall 11 Amp Reciprocating Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
My Milwaukee 6519-22 Sawzall is one of the valuable tools in my shop. It has the power to cut the heads off of bolts, it has cut through steel posts, and through brick (each required a separate blade of course). Each of these jobs would have been much more difficult if not impossible without a good sawzall - and trust me - this is a good one.

Things I appreciate -

- High quality - I have never had even the slightest problem with quality. The unit feels solid with solid construction materials .

- Ease of use - A solid "+" for the Milwaukee 6519-22. The "twist-and-install" blade system is a snap. You can change blades in less than 10 seconds without the need of any tool. Another nice feature is the extra long cord (abiut 6 ft).

- Cost of blades - not cheap, you can expect to pay $10-$20 for a pack of blades.

Which model is right for you - should you go with the Milwaukee 11amp or the 13amp model? It is tough for me to say, since I have found anything that would require more than my 11amp model - however, if you cutting through steel plate you probably want to think about the more powerful model.

Things that I have personally used this Sawzal to cut through

PVC
Steel posts (The type that you use to anchor the trees in your yard)
Masonry
Treel limbs
Plywood
Oak dowel rods

Final opinion - A good Sawzal is one item that when you need it you can not do with out it and the Milwaukee 6519-22 is the one for me. 5 stars

Great tool, it is engineer for wreck havock and destruction (in wimpy terms "remodelation"). If one wants to let his/her inner destructive self out, one must get this saw and have a hell of a ride.

Used it to help build the deck on our house. Hasn't been used a whole lot. The saw has plenty of power and seems to be built very well. The only problem I had was the quick-lok blade holder wouldn't lock onto an after market saw blade very good. The blade would keep coming out of the clamp. But it only did this with a Fastenal brand wood blade, all the Milwaukee blades stayed in fine, even though they all appeared to be identical. Probably just the blade. One other thing is when I bought the saw it was advertised as having a disconnecting power cord but it does not. This was not an issue for me but might be for someone else. Overall very happy with the saw.
