Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Milwaukee's cordless screwdriver is a handy tool with enough punch for most screwdriving applications, in a size small enough to fit easily in a tool belt without falling out or taking up a lot of space. The tilting handle offers a better grip in higher-torque situations, as well as allowing you to fit the tool in tight spaces. This single-speed version of the driver operates at 190 rpm, and has six clutch settings that allow from 5 to 22 inch-pounds of screw-tightening torque. This kit also comes with a 1/4-inch keyed chuck attachment for light drilling applications. While the tool has plenty of power for drilling small pilot holes--and even some countersinking--it's first and foremost a screwdriver, and not a great replacement for even a small handyman's cordless drill. The full kit includes the screwdriver, two 2.4-volt batteries, a one-hour charger, the 1/4-inch keyed chuck attachment, a four-piece bit set, and an impact-resistant carrying case that holds the lot. --Brian Trinen

5.0 out of 5 stars Best screwdriver for Computers, July 16, 2002

This review is from: Milwaukee 6540-1 2.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Screwdriver (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is the best screw driver I have ever used for working on computers. With the clutch set at 1 I can drive screws in any computer component with out fear of over tightening. I have been using this screw driver for 7 years now on all things computer related and have absolutely no complaints. I have even driven screws into plastic with out stripping them.

The two speed setting is great most of the time I leave it in high with the clutch on one and don't think about it. There are the times with the occasional sticky screw where you might need to turn the clutch up and set the speed to low but the screw driver has the ability to do that with in easy reach of your thumb.

The rocker switch between forward and reverse makes it easy to take the screw back out that you just mistakenly put in.

I can't think of a more essential tool for working on computers that this screw driver

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tool I Can Count On, February 26, 2004

Frank W Parke (Ivyland, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Milwaukee 6540-1 2.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Screwdriver (Tools & Home Improvement)
For more than ten years this tool has never failed to function perfectly. I like the forward and reverse rocker switch. When used by a "lefty" the switch is easily operated by the index finger. For right hand operation the thumb is used. Another great feature is the lock switch which prevents the tool from accidentially being turned on. For example, if you want to snug up a screw by hand you can lock the switch off. Locking the tool before placing it in your tool box prevents accidential turn on while in storage. The battery removes easily and seems to always run longer than I expect it would. Of course, in ten years I have replaced them from time to time. The adjustable torque is a great feature too. It's a great tool for electrical work, electronic equipment repair, and working on door locks, etc. I have not missed variable speed since a quick on/off works well. I often underestimate its power. The two speed model might be worth checking on if you want to drill with it. My two single speed units give me good control. These tools have seen a lot of service and I have never regretted the purchases!

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Lasting, December 3, 2008

This review is from: Milwaukee 6540-1 2.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Screwdriver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this over 17 years ago and i still use it today,

I finally had to replace the batteries (Got from Amazon)I also bought a Porter-Cable and Makita drill kits at the same time, both them gave out years ago. If you don't like the quality of this I will be surprised. If it ever

does go bad, I hope they still make it because I will buy

another just like. Thank you Milwaukee for making such

great Tool.
