5.0 out of 5 stars Power to Burn!
...This Milwaukee driver is perfect! If you are looking for real power, this is the driver! Hit the trigger, and it will almost twist your wrist. A very versatile tool, it will dimple drywall with zero damage, yet drive a screw (3 1/2") into 75+ year old studs without hesitation. The adjustment is able to change drop-off depths by 1/64". 2.0 out of 5 stars Shame on you Milwaukee...
I haven'y used this yet...'Just got it yesterday.
I GLADLY paid alot more for this 6740-20 than the 6742-20, thinking that the 6740 was "Made in America". NOT! It's made in China! I am bummed out...HEY, everybody....We need to make good stuff HERE in the USA. Jobs for Americans...'So Americans can afford to buy stuff. Shame on you, Milwaukee....Let's keep decent...

...This Milwaukee driver is perfect! Once you set it up, it never changes. Changing bits is easy, too. The whole nose snaps off to change bits, and you don't lose your adjustment. This is one of my favorite features since my former drywall gun nose piece had to be screwed off to change bits, then readjusted. I was a little concerned about the low max RPM (2500 RPM). (Must be a guy thing!) This is more than enough speed. The trigger is very sensitive to pressure, so speed can be regulated easy. As usual, Milwaukee Tools are the best! The only drawback was delivery, not the tool. I ordered it on June 28th, and received it August 9th. Order it before you need it ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Another quality tool from milwaukee, February 18, 2009

Although I hate corded tools I must say this tool is light weight and powerful. Sets screws the same depth no matter if it is run slow or fast. The adjustment is easy to set. If there is a down side to the tool it would be the factory bit that comes with it but as with most tools, the accessories supplied usually are not the best. I would recommend using APEX bits made by Cooper Tools as I have best luck with them (avg 30,000 screws with 1/4" impact driver before wear is showing with their X suffix bits ie. 446-2X). I would recommend this Milwaukee 6740-20 6.5 Amp Screwdriver to any DIYer and/or weekend contractor.

This is my third drywall gun, the most recent being the Dewalt DW257R. I don't do much drywall work, but the Dewalt literally fell apart after about 3 years. During that time, a philips bit in my regular electric drill worked just as well as the Dewalt! The Milwaukee 6740-20 is what a drywall gun should be. It's performance has been flawless, it's well balanced, and comfortable to use. I am surprised that a drywall gun that is this "heavy-duty" is also this lightweight and easy to use. I was so thrilled with this machine, that I replaced my hammer drill with the Milwaukee 5387-22 which I am even more thrilled with. The two have made me a Milwaukee man from now on!
Suggestion: Buy the 48-55-0711 Steel Carrying Case to keep it in.

4.0 out of 5 stars it does the job, May 13, 2009

I bought this screwdriver after I returned the Dewalt I was using previously. The Dewalt started to make gear grinding after the first bit change (the magnet shaft came out with the bit) so I looked around and bought the Milwaukee. This gun feels better and lighter then the Dewalt did but the only issue I had was the bit that came with it. It took me 2 or 3 bit changes to find the one that didn't get stuck on the screw head after driving a box of coated screws. The depth setting works great I screwed 10 sheets of plywood down and never had to reset the depth setting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied, October 3, 2007

My wife bought this screw gun for me upon my request. The first project we used it for was to build a 250 sq. ft. deck on the back of our house. We were installing 1X6 treated deck boards into treated 2X6's. It had plenty of power and never hesitated. It also has a very sensitive trigger so you can ease one in when you have to. The plastic depth set was extremely useful and durable. My brother was helping us and he was using a Bosch cordless impact driver. That worked pretty well but the Milwaukee screw gun got the screws in much quicker and quieter!

This is my first Milwaukee tool and I am very satisfied with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great screwdriver from decking, July 7, 2006

I purchased this screwdriver for the main purpose of laying deck boards. It work smoothing and is a very quick screwdriver. It takes some a little time to get the hang of it but not long and when you do you can lay down a lot a screws in a short period. I've never had any problems with Milwaukee, and would recommend it over any other brand. Wish it came in a case but that is the only negative I hve for this purchase.

The cut-off adjustment is quick and easy to adjust and stays put. This gun has tons of torque for putting in long or short screws. Fast enough to make quick work of sheetrock and synthetic decking even with the new no-bulge decking screws. Light-weight, and made in America with a long heavy-duty cord.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice screw driver, October 9, 2011

This review is from: Milwaukee 6740-20 6.5 Amp Screwdriver (Tools & Home Improvement)
This screw diver works very well. It is not as fast as a regular drywall screwdriver, but works well with 2X lumber like decks and fences. It is either on or not, so it does not have the finesse of my cordless drill driver, nor will it work for drilling. It does work a little different then the cordless drill drivers in that it does not have a clutch and stop driving when the torque gets above a setting, but it has a depth control nose that will drive a screw to a consistent depth. This feature makes it very nice for drywall or when I installed sub flooring as I could quickly and consistently drive the heads of the screws to just under the surface of the subfloor.

It feels like a solidly built tool that should last for many years.

Very good tool for the price. Plenty of power, good power cord length, easy to change bits and very easy to adjust the depth of driving a screw are all features that I like about this screw gun. I would recommend this tool to a friend.
