Great Heat Gun,
By Daniel (Mountain Top, Pa USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Milwaukee 8975-6 11.6 Amp 570/1000-Degree Fahrenheit Dual Temperature Heat Gun (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have been using this heat gun, where I work, for almost a year. I have spent about 1000 hours using it to strip paint and it works just like the day I first got it. I have stripped paint that was literally a quarter of an inch thick or more with this heat gun and I had not problem getting the paint hot enough to scrape off. Milwaukee did an excellent job designing this gun. The fan does a good job of blowing the heat out, which I think is one of the most important things to look for in a heat gun, besides the temperature it heats up to.
I recommend this tool to anyone, whether you are a do-it-yourselfer or a full time painter, it is a great heat gun.

Did everything I needed. I use it to strip paint and varnish off of wooden doors. Had it on for hours, no problems.

The heat gun worked great for peeling up the lynoleum tiles I had to remove. The only problem I encountered with the gun was the cord was a little bit short and stiff, getting in the way from time to time.

Heats up quickly. Steady heat. Stands up securely. Just a nice tool at a nice price. It does everything I bought it too.

The heat gun works great on shrink tubing. We repair trailer wiring and the heat gun is faster and much safer then using a torch.

This is a super little gun. Quiet, powerful and gets the job done. Currently used to roast coffee, makes short work of 2 pounds of greens.

It's quiet, very very hot on high, and has run for over a year with intermittent use without issue, including a run of several continuous hours thawing pipes. My latest use was this morning, freeing a tractor loader valve that stuck in position overnight in sub-zero temps.
You might think that having two heat ranges is unnecessary - after all, you can just pull the gun back and effectively deliver less heat. But in fact, there are times when the lower heat setting is useful. When putting heat into a wall, for example, you want to deliver as much airflow as possible - not just heat - so getting closer with the lower temp is actually better. WARNING - the "low" temp setting of 570 degrees is still hot enough to start a wood or paper fire! Be careful! It is also helpful in some applications to deliver heat without overheating. Finally, lower heat is safer. The wire bail on the back of the gun is handy for two things: supporting the gun in place while you heat something "handheld" (usually with a tool, like pliers), and cooling the gun after use so the tip isn't in contact with anything flammable or damageable by heat. Like most Milwaukee products, this is well-built and reliable.

This thing heats up in a second, and real hot too. We use it for shrinkwrapping bottles. Its working great so far, we've had it for a month now

Very pleasantly surprised. Thought it would be louder, but it is quite quiet. I used it to strip paint off of 1x10 clear redwood (from the 1940s). Paint came off with very little effort thanks to the heat gun. I've used other methods of paint removal-- chemicals, blow torch and sander-- this is the easiest method by far.

Bought this for window tinting and it is by far the best heat gun I have ever used. It gets hot without blowing lots of air which is ideal for forming film on the rear windows. It is 3 times the price of my old Wagner but in my opinion, it is 10 times better. Money well spent and I am going to buy another one as a backup.
