I had a Milwaukee dual-temp heat gun for over 25 yrs....it only broke after I dropped it several times from over 10 feet onto concrete...I bought another brand and was disappointed...the Milwaukee is much more effective...it concentrates the heat better, and heats things up faster. I do my own car repair work....years ago I saw a mechanic heat a stubborn bolt with a torch to "expand" it enough so he could remove it with a wrench. I 've used this Milwaukee heat gun many times to loosen old rusted bolts...ones that won't budge, even when an air-powered wrench is used. Heat up a nut with this gun and it'll come off. The other major use is paint removal....my son used it to heat up paint on old galvanized gutters, wooden door frames, etc. It's great for removing paint...this job usually is very long and tedious, but the Milwaukee makes it go much faster...since the fan in it runs slower and delivers more heat...instead of blowing the heat away. I've also used it to soften rock-hard caulk, etc. My dad had some vinyl tile on the stairs going down to his basement...and he planned to tile over the stairs....I told him I could remove the old tiles with the heat gun...he didn't believe it could be done...well this heat gun made the job easy, and now the new tile is tightly glued to the stairs...there's a lot of little jobs that you think are very difficult or impossible, but this heat gun can make the difference. I bought this kit since it has the tools....

Great product. I looked far and wide for a heat gun that included attachments. Most do not. This Milwaukee has four of them! And each one of them is very useful. I use mine to melt and shape plastics for furniture grade products. This thing is strong enough to form the toughest plastics I have and the lower setting allowed me to gently shape paper thin Styrene. The attachments aid greatly in diverting the heat from areas that you do not want deformed. Added bonus is the carrying case, another feature that most heatguns do not come with. Just helps keep the shop tidy.

Comfortable to hold, rather quiet compared to most heat guns. The little bail on the end to let you stand it up, rather than lay it down on a wood surface and start a fire, is very handy. It comes up to temperature very quickly. I'd buy it again for sure, but according to some of the other reviews I won't have to as it's supposed to last a long time. I've dropped it several times and it still works just fine.

Excellent product for the dollar,

I took a chance on a discounted $14.88 "made in China" light-duty indoor use only 8067928 Power Fist heat gun which lasted only 90 minutes under continuous use on high output. The owner's manual did advise not to overload the motor for the tool may be damaged. They weren't kidding. The "made in Germany" Milwaukee 8975 heat gun has outlasted the Power Fist, works like a soldier and softens difficult to remove paint on my cast iron patio table much quicker. I like the unique on/off rocker switch (off, high, low). The unit concentrates the correct amount of heat and doesn't blow gung ho like the glorified Power Fist hair dryer. Standing the unit up on a flat surface is smartly made possible by the built-in support stand. Dollar for dollar, this entry level heavy-duty kit with a rugged red coloured case, 4 commonly used nozzle attachments and a well written owner's manual is my choice. The 8980 surpasses it's closest competitor the Makita HG1100 Heat Gun which to my knowledge is not sold as a value kit.

I am very impressed with this heat gun, I have only had it a few weeks and I have already used it to free rusted nuts on an old van, speed up sheet rock "mud" drying. Gotta go slow here or it will crack! And most recently, I used it to strip the paint off of door trim. It easily removed about 5 layers of paint. My only minor complaint with the kit is removing the "diffusers" after use. The most difficult one to remove was the widest diffuser, I discovered that careful spreading with a screwdriver was all that was needed to get it off. Not enough of a bother to lower my review.

I just fixed my ps3 with this thing. Works great and as you can see from all these reviews. This thing is made to last a very long time. This is basically the Milwaukee 8975 with 4 added attachments along with a nice red case. If I'm not mistaken this comes with a 5 year manufacturer warranty. That alone should give you a huge boost in your decision to buy this!!!!!Becareful after using it, lay it on its back with the hot metal part up with the spring on the ground backing it up. DO NOT TOUCH IT LIKE I DID. HAHAHA ITS EXTREMELY HOT.

Wore the first one out stripping my house. Works great, heats up fast and deflector work great to spread heat so that I can use a stripping blade to remove paint.Received the in a timely fashion which I was grateful for since my other one wore out in the middle of my project.
