3.0 out of 5 stars The tool is good but the battery Is Wack!!
My battery lasted about 2 years under little use. Item is heavy, what good is a tool when the battery is not working. Item is built good but the Battery Design sucks. I wouldn't have bought this if I knew the battery would die with so little use. Impact gun couldn't take out a torque bolt to 150ft.lbs. The rating mean squat. It couldn't take some of my bolts. I mostly use...

Ive owned it for three months now and have yet to find its limit.
Faults: I drove a 1 inch by 16 inch long lag screw into the end
of a pressure treated 4x6 and it just about spent the battery.
Yes thats a huge bolt, and I was surprised it even did it(no pilot hole) But if I needed this type of tool for all day use
I would get the corded model.

For tow truck drivers Milwaukee makes a battery charger for the car!! I only wish I had one of these when I was towing.
This tool is a bg time winner and I highly recomend it, even
if you only have it to make your friends say "wholy..." when they
see you driving one inch lag screws with ease.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR THE 90LB WEAKLING!, November 27, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Milwaukee 9079-22 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Impact Wrench (Tools & Home Improvement)
Guys, This wrench is brute. It's a heavy duty tool that take a lot of muscle power to use. I use it to remove combine cylinder bolts while laying on my back. I go through two battery packs in about 1hour of heavy duty use. Pros are no air line to get in your way, no dust from air tools, uses the same batteries as the 18v drill and ease of trigger variability. Cons are weight, weight, weight, and tool can get hot after a lot of use. My brother tried to add torque to wheel lug bolts on the big trucks after I tighten them with the wrench...but he couldn't. That sold him and me!
P.S. Not a home improvement tool, a work horse!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable tool!, October 9, 2002

We use this wrench at the track to change wheels on 4-6 cars in our group. With the two batteries and quick charger, the tool never is down on power and one battery will last through 20+ wheel changes. Unlike the other cordless impact wrenches, you don't need to break loose the nuts first - just jack the car and go. The variable speed lets you install the wheel without over tightening, and then go around and quickly torque to 70-80 ft-lbs. Then, drop the car and use your torque wrench to finish-up.

After my 1/2" pneumatic gun gave-up, and I couldn't break with my 1/2" breaker bar, I used this wrench to remove my 36mm front hub nuts - over 200 ft-lbs - spun them off like they were hand tight. Awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars an awesome tool, April 21, 2004

This is a great tool, made well and packaged well. It is heavy and it is certainly not cheap, but it works, and works well.

I use it on my track car. Just jack up the car and zip-zip-zip-zip-zip the wheel is off. It has no clutch mechanism to limit the torque, but I use a "torque stick" to keep the torque at spec. With the torque stick, it's also zip-zip-zip-zip-zip and the wheel is back on.

I've changed all four wheels several times on a couple of cars, all off of a single charge on the battery. It almost seems like overkill that it comes with a spare.

It has a smart charger, so it charges fast but you can leave the battery on the charger if you like, to always keep one fresh.

The blown plastic case is also solid, with metal overcenter cam latches. I have no qualms about throwing it in the trunk with a bunch of other tools -- it will be safe and sound when I open it up again.

This tool is not cheap, and it is much heavier than an air wrench would be. It is also bulky -- don't expect to use it in tight quarters. But if you don't have an air compressor, or you have one but you need a portable tool, this is the one you want.

I love using this tool so much I bought 2 of them. We use it everyday and have yet to tire out a battery. It has removed every single lug nut without fail! I was skeptical at first but they really made a believer out of me. I highly recommend using this Milwaukee tool.

First thing I did with the #9079 after I charged the batteries
was tried to take a tire off my car, as Emeril would say "BAM"
it busted the lug nuts with ease, "BAM" it put em back on with ease.

I have owned this for about a year and it does everthing promised and more, when battery technology hits us in 2004
we will have better batteries for our 18v tools and then look out this thing will go all day.

This review is from: Milwaukee 9079-22 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Impact Wrench (Tools & Home Improvement)
Best thing I can say is it works and works and keeps on working!
I have had my Milwaukee 18-volt 1/2 inch impact wrench for about a year and a half, I have used it to change tires to rotate tires on up to 4 autos back to back on one battery 1/2 ton & 3/4 ton it allways works!

5.0 out of 5 stars good enough, February 27, 2006
This review is from: Milwaukee 9079-22 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Impact Wrench (Tools & Home Improvement)
So far I am more than satisfied. I have been using it as a track wrench for changing wheels/tires from street to race and back again at auto x events. One battery can do at least two cars easily and maybe more. I have not tried reaching max torque. I have used a torque stick for 65 ft/lb and have reached that with no problem by holding a few seconds. Tool is heavy but it sure beats the alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars IMPACT WRENCH!!!!!, March 3, 2007
This review is from: Milwaukee 9079-22 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Impact Wrench (Tools & Home Improvement)
I own this impact 1/2 in drive, an I do like it. Chaging tires is really easy now. The hard job was to lift the truck, removing the nuts, was pice of cake. The Impact wrench didn't even move when loosenig the nuts. A must for wife, she now can change tires with no effort.
