This combo paid for itself within 10 minutes of my taking it out of the box. I was running some wires through my wall and the compact drill was just the ticket for drilling through some headers. Then I used the scope through the hole to see when the fish tape was getting close. Perfect!
One reviewer talked about a narrow focal range. This is completely expected since it's a tiny camera with a fixed focal length! The focal range is about 1-2 inches but it's crystal clear and the zoom works well. Priced alone the scope is a bit steep but having the drill combo makes it much more appealing.

I have been using both of these items for the past few months and have to say I have been very pleased with the performance of both. Of course I purchased it mainly for the inspection camera and it has come in very handy in ways I didn't even think about.
Inspection Camera: Yes the screen is small but works just fine. I have used it for spotting dropped screws down holes, spotting wire when pulling through drywall and looking behind stereo components in cabinets for hookups (used to use a flashlight and small mirror). In each case the camera worked fine and thanks to the adjustable light brightness I normally could find a comfortable setting to be able to see the area easily without the image "washing-out". Yes, as others have said the image quality does vary greatly depending on the lighting and distance to the object being observed but again I didn't have a real issue with finding a comfortable brightness level doing some trial and error. The only slightly negative thing I have found was in orienting the camera to try to keep the image right-side up. Often I would bend the flexible camera cable and insert it into the area desired only to find that the image was either upside down or at an odd angle. Not a huge deal as this is to be expected since you are twisting the camera head around but it would have been nice to have a way to keep the image aligned correctly no matter how the camera cable was twisted. Compact Screwdriver: I was pleasantly surprised how well I liked this considering this was technically a "bonus" item included with the camera. Driver is compact but very sturdy and still has enough power to drive screws easily. The "feel" in your hand is very good, easy to hold and not too heavy. One very minor thing that would be nice would be for the built-in LED light to be slightly angled upward so that it illuminates the area you are directly drilling/driving. Instead it currently just illuminates an area straight in front of the trigger where it is mounted and doesn't really help in lining up your driver bit with a screw in low-light conditions. Overall very pleased with this purchase!

Great tools,

I'm very pleased with both these tools . The driver is amazing especially for its size . It drills well with the hex bits but having said that it is a driver not a driller . The batteries last forever !! I was concerned about switching over from nicad batteries and needing to carry more than one charger around with me . From what I'm seeing you can charge these batteries and go . Leave the charger home . The camera is awesome . This affordable little camera will solve alot of problems without tearing apart walls and floors etc. No suprise really they were made by milwaukee .

This item is great! I read some negative reviews before I purchased. They are crazy! This is a fantastic item. Clear picture. You can zoom in & add light as you need it. Amazon has a great price as well. $100 cheaper than anywhere else that I checked.

Both of these tools are exceptional in quality and functionality. My primary need was for the excellent inspection camera. The drill/screwdriver turned out to be so good that it's now my drill/screwdriver of choice.

The camera, although a bargin for the price has a very small focal range. It was very difficult if not impossible to identify anything with it. Even in viewing the rear of my car brake pads as a test it was impossible to identify what I was looking at. You have to be 1-2" away from an object to have it in focus.

I needed an inexpensive camera so this was a great buy at $159 as a Gold Box Deal even though I didn't need another drill, but the drill is now my go-to driver and lives with my Makita in the same case. For such a compact and light-weight drill it can mount outlet covers (the low clutch setting will keep you from damaging the screw or cover) as well as heavy driving (deck screws) and drilling. Since the drill locks when it's off you can do manual fine-tuning when driving screws. The quick-change chuck is great. You may want to purchase short bits if you don't have them; I bought the "Bosch CC2480 Clic-Change 12-Piece Screwdriver Bit Assortment". I wish it had a clip to hold a driver bit since I often need to swap from flat to Phillips for a task. Battery life has surprised me since the gauge shows a full charge after months of use. Back to the camera - I've used it in walls, behind audio/video gear, behind a dashboard and under sinks with great results. You'll get used to the orientation and realizing where "right" or "up" is.

Purchased this as a gold box special. I've noticed the remote camera unit in the past, and thought it'd be handy to have around when running wires in walls and the like - could see what I'm getting into before I do any real damage.
The picture on the camera varies from marginal to very good, depending on lighting conditions and what is around it. One trick is that the camera head is round, and it can be a challenge to orient yourself with the camera - what appears at the top of the screen could in fact be anywhere depending on how the camera is positioned at the end of the cable. So you do need to take your time and properly orient yourself. The comment about high lighting blotting out the picture is true at times - if you are in a confined space and turn the lighting on high, you do get a nice white blot in the center of the screen. If the area is more open, like you are looking into a crawlspace or the like, it isn't as bad. I tried using a flashlight in conjunction with the camera unit and it helped. The three foot cable that connects the camera to the head unit is very stiff, which can be good or bad. No problems supporting the camera when you're pushing it up a space, but maneuverability is a challenge. Then again, everything done inside a finished wall can be a challenge, so no big surprise there. If it was a looser cable, then that would be a problem also. I think my bottom line with this unit is that it will be very helpful in the right situations, but it isn't like you're going to get a big screen extravaganza when you put this in your confined space. You will get a view of what is immediately around the camera, and it does help if you know somewhat what you're looking for. Orientation of the picture to the space is a challenge, and holding the head unit while positioning the cable / camera can be a dexterity challenge. It'd be nice if the screen detached from the head unit so you could prop or tape it somewhere and be better able to focus on maneuvering the cable. Some units do have this option, but they cost $200 or more than this unit. For the casual user, I think this is a reasonable tradeoff. I should probably say something about the driver that came with this unit. The driver comes outside of the plastic case that holds the camera, charger, and two 12v batteries, and shares those batteries with the camera. The driver has a very solid feel to it, and I can tell already it'll be displacing one cheap Skill driver with built in battery for basic assembly work. Nice balance, good adjustments, and very solid feeling.

I've had this driver for two months and use it daily. The driver is stronger than I had expected and even drives 3" deck screws in a pinch. It is far easier to carry around than the 18v drill I usually use, fits in a tool belt. This is probably the best general use power tool I've ever bought!
The m-spector is great for searching into spaces looking for cables, insulation, pipes, etc. |
