5.0 out of 5 stars This was an absolutely adorable set of three little stories your preschooler will love!, January 2, 2010
This review is from: Mimi and Lulu: Three Sweet Stories, One Forever Friendship (Hardcover)
Mimi and Lulu were best friends, but even so they liked different things. Mimi just adored anything pink. She smiled and twirled and jumped as she talked about her pretty pink outfit. Her lacy skirt was pink, her socks were pink, her shoes were pink . . . pink, pink, pink . . . there was nothing better. Well, Lulu was not quite in agreement because HER favorite color was purple. She was dressed in purple from head to toe. She had something special in a box that was yum, yum, yum purple. Do you think that purple cupcake would be delicious?

Mimi was busy talking on the phone and didn't want to play with Lulu any more. Of course that phone was fake and Lulu was getting mad and threw her blocks and pink elephant all over the floor. It was kind of rude that Mimi was talking with Sally who wasn't even a REAL little girl. To think that Mimi was accepting an invitation to a party. Ugh! Lulu got on her own phone, a yellow block. "Yes, hello, I'd like to order a flying pink elephant ride." It wasn't long before Mimi got off the phone.

Mimi was all full of fun ideas for playtime. She suggested freeze dance, hide-and-seek, and "Princess!" Oh, now that sounded good, but Lulu had to go home and Mimi got all upset and started to cry. "We still have to play princess." Those big crocodile tears were flowing like crazy so Lulu offered her pal her special purple bow, a bow she never left home without. Mimi was touched and put it on her head next to her pink one. Lulu was sure to come back the next day to fetch her bow.

This was an absolutely adorable set of three little stories your preschooler will love. They were sweet and very charming. Little Mimi reminded me a bit of her older counterpart, Fancy Nancy, who also loved dressing up. These two imaginative and inseparable little girls are what friendship is all about . . . a little give, a little take, a few differences, some similarities and friends for life. If you have a preschooler with a budding friendship, this would be a perfect choice!

I spotted this book at a local book shop on my way out - The cover art and the title drew me in - I found it online and bought it for my 5 year old daughter - We love it! She especially adores this book because the she was able to memorize it quickly and now she can "read" it to everyone (dolls, people and the imaginary students who attend her imaginary basement school)

The story is not complicated and honest - The illustrations are bright and well drawn -

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute Book for the Very Young - a review of Mimi and Lulu, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Mimi and Lulu: Three Sweet Stories, One Forever Friendship (Hardcover)
This cute book is for the Kindergarten and under crowd. It has very simple stories, sort of on the level of Mo Willems "Elephant and Piggie" books.

To give you an idea of what they are like, in the first story-- there are three in this book-- Mimi declares that she likes Pink! Pink skirts, socks, shoes, bows... and especially pink boas. To which Lulu replies that her favorite color is purple. "Well," says Mimi, "I only like pink things." Mimi then says that that is too bad. Why? "Because purple tastes delicious." Mimi then whips out a huge cupcake with purple icing. The story resolves with them sharing the treat and agreeing that purple does tastes good.

Talking Points:::
The artwork is colorful and sweet. The stories are very simple and have a basic charm that will appeal to small fry.
