Questions? Feedback? Suggestions?

Dad’s Gaming Addiction: “Overall, I found Block Story to be a joy to play, not to mention a highly polished product.  One of the complaints I had with Minecraft is that it didn’t include any sort of in-depth RPG element.  Block Story helped to bridge this gap and provide hours of entertainment in both the realm of building and character progression.”

5.0 out of 5 stars blocky and i know it June 11, 2012

fantastic game, the developers are very accomdating to fix any problems the game has had. I was wary to purchase, but then I saw that the developers addressed all the reviews and fixed the flaws they mentioned as well as encouraging suggestions. That level of customer service is fantastic an unheard of in today's market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best $5 I've Spent On A Game July 29, 2012
Verified Purchase
I never thought I'd be excited by a game like this, but for the price I was tempted to try it. I've been very happy with the purchase, and the authors are constantly updating the product.

To start with, the game has a role playing element. There are quests to do. Levels to gain. Experience to earn. With each level earned you can allocate points to different attributes. These attributes are things like traveling faster, flying faster, more mana, more health, more melee damage, better ranged damage, etc.

One can explore the computer generated realms of the game. There is the surface world, with floating islands in the sky, subterranean caves, fantastic cliffs and land bridges, glaciers, lakes, oceans. A variety of climates as well. Deserts, forests, jungles, swamps, meadows, boreal forests, snow covered mountains, and iced over oceans. Beneath the ocean's surface there's kelp forests, coral reefs, and underwater caverns.

The computer generated realms also includes Moria, a sub-surface world populated by goblins, quest givers, new kinds of stone and artifacts to dig up. Even deeper down is Hell, a vast realm of danger, exotic ores and monsters, and quest givers. There is also a ancient sky realm, for those that dare to fly or build a structure high enough. In the sky realm one finds more unusual ores to mine, as well as unusual plants and stone. One can even mine the clouds of the sky realm.

One can create and save multiple worlds, and move between these worlds exploring, collecting materials. The Lite version of the game does not allowing saving of one's character, whereas the paid version does. Each generated world is vast, you'll probably never see the edges of the world, unless you start moving and keep so for decades (real time, not game time).

5.0 out of 5 stars Lose yourself in another world January 11, 2013

This game is simply amazing.
You can walk, swim, dive and even fly.
It says there are even cars and boats that you can build.
There are many NPCs (computer generated characters with individual names) as well as animals.
On my first dive, I met a manta ray and a sea turtle for instance, and my first attempt to go spelunking brought me face to face with a huge spider. Wild hogs roam the meadows and lizards bask in the sun.
I'm not sure a truly infinite world can be created with limited memory - at least not if the features are permanent - but for all practical purposes it IS infinite.
You can freely explore and take quests at your own pace - you seem to have infinite time, too.
The night sky is particularly impressive and reminds me of Morrowind.

The only issue I have is that you can easily get lost.
I see no map and if you wander too far from a quest giver you might never find him again.
However, if you activate the fps counter in the misc settings, you will get your current coordinates in the lower left area.
The first and third figure are your horizontal position, the second one is vertical with zero being sea level.

Here some tips - this section may be expanded as I progress:
- when mining, a colored glow will show you that you are close to gems/ores
- don't dig deeper than you can fly back up again
- build a house soon to be sheltered from creatures. And YES, you can build doors
- when distributing skill points, I recommend manna but it's up to you of course
- keep your pickaxe able to mine 100 blocks or more - always

I would not compare this game to Minecraft - both have blocks but block story isn't a clone - it's a full fledged rpg adventure in its own right with the option to distribute skill points and solve quests.
With all these possibilities, you'll never be bored.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic June 5, 2012
By Kevin
Block story is a labor of love from talented developers and it needs to be seen as such. It is not trying to be a port of minecraft but rather a rpg and adventure game using some elements that minecraft pioneered. Technically block story is more impressive than minecraft pocket edition, it features infinite worlds and specular lighting and around 90 dynamic mobs. Additionally it will be updated much more frequently. It is unfair to the developers to give a baseless rating purely on the fact that the app is not what you expect. It needs to be rated upon its own merits and those are worthy of five stars. My thanks to the russian devs, your hard work really shows and it makes me excited to see the future of block story

They should add a third person view, other than it beats minecraft, more mobs and, you get things that you would need to download to minecraft, which takes a lot of memory. Read more

Advice about buying this for someone new to gaming?
I think it is a very good starter RPG. On the tablet, it will run very well. I will have to say that this game is very open ended. Want a quest, ok get one, finish it or not, go do your own thing. Collect blocks and make a home for your self in the sky. infinite in all directions is correct.... Read More
