Editorial Reviews

Review

Will be an invaluable addition to the resources available to teachers of beginning philosophy courses. It presents the fundamental arguments--historical and contemporary--for both dualism and materialism, as well as the standard objections to each. The presentation is clear and balanced, and should be useful for a wide range of courses.--Mark Owen Webb, Texas Tech University

I am a Philosophy 100 student at Cal State Long Beach, before going over this short but concise book I was very confused as to the nature of the difference between the mind and body. This Book helped clear up some confusion with respect to proposed separation between the human mind and body.

This book is a dialogue, but different from Plato's style of dialogue. The discussions take place over three nights and explore various perspectives on a wide array of topics. The discussions try to balance opposite viewpoints with a neutral perspective for contrast. It's an unusual style, but effective in how the views are presented.
