Lovely music, but...,

This album was one of my favorites back when it was initially released, in the late '60s. I was thrilled to see it on CD. The music, mostly, holds up, though some of the arrangements are a bit dated. Then again, I always thought it was over-arranged, even at the time. HOWEVER, unless I'm seriously mistaken, this CD was made from a vinyl copy, and not from anything remotely resembling the master tape. And even then, it's not a terribly good transfer. Much distortion. So, if your vinyl copy is trashed, or your turntable is in storage, you might be glad to have this. And if you've never heard these songs, it's the only way you can get them. But if you're expecting to hear some familiar and cherished music with new clarity, you will probably be disappointed, especially considering the inexcusably high price.
